Ile then took the bills out of his pocket

That ended the couversation. He dill

Senator Atkins asked to put in a 11e.

Q. Have you seen the Naebing Ho-

Q. What quantity of lumber is there
in it ? A. 49,027 feet, enperficial nl,•a-

lathes and shingles.
Q. When did you measure it ? A.
On the 29th or 3011* Augnst last. I
and another person measured it separ-
ately, and found our nleasurolnen:s to
be similar.
Q. What isthe quality of the lumber,
for instance the sheeting on the roof ?
A. I would say it was cull lumber. I
could not put my hand on a good piece
of board except the flooring, and that•
was not good enough for flooring, but
was ordinary lumber.
Q. Did you see any piles of lumber
'there ? A. I slid not see any, and I
was in the habit of being there almost
daily.
Q. Did you see any doors ur window
sashes inside the building? A. Yes.
To Senator Haythorue-(1f course
there would be a good deal of waste in
erecting a ,building like that.
