November 28, 1984 - The
future of Aura Yachts Inc. of
Huron Park apparently re-
mains a question mark. In
September, a receiver and
manager was named, but a
number of employees are still
on staff completing yachts
that were in progress.
The Exeter R.E. Pooley
Royal Canadian Legion
branch has donated $10,000
to the Exeter fire department
to purchase vehicle extrica-
tion equipment.
When Judge William G.
Cochrane presides over pro-
vincial court in Goderich to-
day it will mark the end of a
legal career in Huron county
that spanned nearly 40 years.
The new Lucan Scout -
Guide hall was officially
opened on Saturday.
At the weekend Exeter old-
timers hockey tournament, Al
Flynn the Molting Hawks old-
est statesman at the age of 58
presented the oldest player
award to 70 year-old Reg
Hammond of London Intra
City.

Bill Sturdevant is the new
president of the Grand Bend
Chamber of Commerce.
Two Huron county officials
received pay increases this
week. Clerk -treasurer and ad-
ministrator John Berry will be
up from $13,500 to $15,000
and his deputy Bill Hanley
will receive a raise of $1,800
to $10,500.
Only one person has an-
nounced intentions to run for
the wardenship of Huron
county in 1970. He is Us -
borne township reeve Roy
Westcott.
Exeter police chief Ted Day
has reported that 15 snow ma-
chines were stopped this week
and given warnings regarding
erratic driving and excessive
noise.
Ratepayers of only two area
municipalities went to the
polls Monday. In Hensall, in-
cumbent reeve Oliver Jaques
defeated rival Minnie Noakes
by 261 to 145 votes. New
councillors are Hein Roose-
boom, Paul Neilands, John
Baker and Leonard Erb. At
Granton new trustees are Jo-
seph Bryan, Kenneth Hodgins
and Elmer Summers.
SO YEARS AGO
A big Red Cross auction sale
is scheduled for Grand Bend
on Saturday. Frank Taylor is
the auctioneer and the clerk
will be Norman Turnbull.
Farm Forums have begun
again and continue to be very
popular. SS.S. 3, Stephen
meets at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Preston Dearing; the
Shipka group will gather at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Love and at Sharon it will be at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mil-
ton Haugh. The current big
question is, "Can future farm-
ers make a living.".
During the severe snowstorm
that visited the area Thursday
evening of last week, 11 year-
old Alex Howe of the Centralia
area failed to return to his
home. About 300 airmen spent
part of the night scouring the
district and searching through
piles of snowdrifts. He was
found by a truck driver and
taken to London until his par-
ents were notified.
The great golden jubilee of
Granton Methodist Church was
held last week. The fowl sup-
per held Tuesday was a great
success. Proceeds which are
expected to be well over
$1,000 will go to clear the debt
off the new parsonage.
At Stephen township coun-
cil, D. McKellar was awarded
$7 for damages sustained by
his horse while crossing the
bridge on Concession 21.
The Clinton News Record
gives a very lame excuse of
"immense traffic" for the had
state of streets in that town.
We ask that they should come
to Exeter where there is equal-
ly as much traffic and see the
finest streets in Ontario. They
should learn something about
roadmaking from Commission-
er Creech.
News from Sharon last week
caused a whirl of excitement
among the fair sex of our burg,
for everyone wants to know
who the shoemaker is and if he
decides to locate here. To the
maidens I must say that it must
remain n mystery until he set-
tles in our midst and then look
out for squalls.
Special Legion awards

Personals
Sympathy of the community is
extended to the family of Wesley
McGuffin of London, former Gran-
ton resident, who died at University
Hospital November 23. The funeral
service was held at the Needham
Funeral Home in London last Fri-
day.
Allan and Carol Wissel had sup-
per with Allan's mother on Sunday
evening.
This correspondent has an Easter
lily with two blooms on it. Having
been more or less neglected, it
started to grow a little and was ft -
nally planted outside in July. When
the geraniums were being potted on
November 8, I noticed it had two
small buds on it so I brought it in-
doors. Today it is in full bloom.
Margaret Oakley was the hostess
for the Anglican parish bible study
on November 23.
Church services
At St. Thomas' Anglican Church
on Sunday, the Rev. Stephen Em-
ery led the service of morning
prayer. His message was based on
Luke 21:34 'Be on guard so that
your hearts are not weighed down
with the worries of this life.' Ser-
vice time next Sunday is 11 a.m.
At Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes
entitled her sermon 'Don't forget
the Baby!' During the children's
time they talked about Jesus' birth-
day. Marion Gricken had brought a
birthday cake and the children sang
'Happy Birthday Jesus' and Jenna
Cook blew out the birthday candle.
Cheryl Cook lit the first Advent
Candle for Hope. Matthew McRo-
bert explained the meaning of
lights on the Christmas tree, and
'Andrew Bryan explained the mean-
ing of the coloured balls.
Each child placed a ball on ,the
tree and will do so each Sunday as
they make more decorations. The
choir sang 'Jesus, Joy of man's de-
siring:.
Flowers were placed in the sanc-
tuary from the funeral of John Wa-
ters, brother of Cliff Waters, who
died suddenly on November 19.

Community Bible Church
At the beginning of October, the
Community Bible Church congre-
gation experimented with establish-
ing a new 8:30 a.m. second wor-
ship service. This has ended
successfully and an evaluation will
be made to seek areas of improve-
ment and growth. Room to wel-
come more people to worship has
been a very valuable result.
In order to welcortre everyone to
this year's musical concert, "From
Heaven's Throne", it will be held
on two nights, Saturday, December
10 and Sunday, December 11. This
is a unique cantata presenting the
angels' perspective on Christmas.

NOTICE OF APPLICATION CONCERNING
THE TUCKERSMITH MUNICIPAL TELEPHONE SYSTEM
TAKE NOTICE that an application dated November 15, 1994 has been filed with the Ontario
Telephone Service Commission (the "Commission") seeking its approval, pursuant to
subsection 47(6) of the Telephone Act (Ontario) for the disposition of the whole of the
Tuckersmith Municipal Telephone System (the "System") to Tuckersmith Communications Co-
operative Limited (the "Co-operative"), a co-operative corporation incorporated under the
provisions of the Co-operative Corporations Act (Ontario). The application is made on behalf of

The application seeks the approval of the Commission to the transfer of the undertaking and
all of the property and assets of the System from the Trustee to the Co-operative in order to
convert the System into a co-operative owned telephone system. The members of the Co-
operative will be all of the customers of the System except for those persons who decline to
become members. Materials related to becoming a member of the Co-operative and to this
application have been mailed to each of the customers of the System.
Subsection 47(6) of the Telephone Act empowers the council of the Trustee to authorize the

unable to be ascertained, subject to the approval of the Commission as provided for in that
subsection.
The council of the Trustee passed a by-law on November 3, 1994 approving of the disposition
of the whole of the system to the Co-operative and a purchase agreement has been signed.
The closing of that transaction is subject to the approval of the Commission.
The Trustee is currently responsible for debentures in respect of the System. Under the terms
of the purchase agreement, the Co-operative will arrange for a letter of credit from a Schedule
A Chartered Bank in favour of the Trustee to satisfy any obligations under the debentures on
an ongoing basis until payment in full of the debentures.
