Radio thanks municipal staff
"Without their assistance, CKNX
AM 920 and FM 102 would have
been unable to provide the hourly
and half-hourly updates...
Dear Editor:
CKNX Radio would like to recognize a group of
hard-working people who are often over -looked at
municipal election time.
That group is made up of all the local municipal
clerks, clerk -administrators, and their staffs who are
involved in all of the mechanics of the municipal
election. This covers the many duties from the ini-
tial "calling", through the counting of the ballots
and the clean-up after the fact.
The CKNX Radio news department would like to
extend its thanks to all of these individuals for their
co-operation. Without their assistance, CKNX AM
920 and FM 102 would have been unable to provide
the hourly and half-hourly updates that ran through
the evening of November 14 and the 30 -minute
summary of results that aired the following morning
at 9 a.m. In total, CKNX Radio News provided re-
sults from 104 municipalities, including eight school
boards. The fact that these results are important to
the people of mid -western Ontario was emphasized,
when the CKNX Radio newsroom handled hun-
dreds of callers, on Tuesday and Wednesday,
through our municipal election hotline. This re-
sponse demonstrated that people really do care
about their local elections.
Finally, as a point of clarification, we would like
to remind the readers of this paper, and the listeners
of CKNX Radio, that CKNX Radio and CKNX Tel-
evision are two entirely separate companies. The
mandate for CKNX Radio continues to be the
counties of Huron, Perth, Grey, Bruce and North
Wellington...an area CKNX Radio is proud to serve!
