Appreciation dinner held in Zurich
Volunteers of the an-
nual bean festival en-
joyed a hot turkey
meal.

"ZURICH - Over 70 people at-
tended the annual bean festival ap-
preciation dinner held at the Do-
minion Tavern on Sunday.
Following a hot turkey meal with
all the trimmings, elections were
held. President Doug Erb will be
the head of the bean festival com-
mittee for one more year, with the
help of first vice Jody Durand. Sec-
ond vice is not definite yet while
the new secretary will be Cynthia
Tripp. There are also five directors
on the committee. 1995 will be the
30th anniversary of the bean festi-
val
The financial report was given by
Brian and Michelle DePaepe and
Ray McKinnon audited the books.
Everyone present enjoyed themagic
tricks provided by "Magnificent
Norman" from Clinton. People
were reminded to send in recipes
for the cook book.
Volleyball tourney
A volleyball tournament was hold
over the weekend with 15 teams
participating. The games were held
at two courts, at the arena and St.
Boniface school. Winners of the
'A' division were Cathy Overholt's
team while Lee -Ann Overholt's
team won the 'B' group.
Youth dance
There will be a youth dance host-
ed by the Optimist Club on Friday,
November 25 from 7 to 10 p.m.
Parents are asked to pick up their
children on time.
Anyone bringing a canned good
item will get into the dance for
$2.00. Others will pay $3.00. The
donations will be given to the chil-
dren's Christmas Bureau.
Drama Club
The Drama Club of South Huron
District High School will be pre-
senting their play that was put out
recently in the Crossroads Drama
Festival in Blyth.
The show will be held at the
school in Exeter this Thursday and
Friday, November 24 and 25 at 8

The first 10 games of the Bluewater zone rolloffs will be hosted by Zue annual family Christmas din

The top nine women and men plus the next highest scorer will advance
to represent Bluewater as singles, men's and ladies and mixed teams in the
O.F.P.B.A. Ontario Open Championships April 12-15 at Hamilton Sher-
wood Centre.
Entries are now being accepted into the TelRoute/Score Holiday Classic
tournament by the Bluewater zone plus Zurich, Molesworth, Listowel and
Goderich D/C Bowlers' Associations with December 5 deadline.
Association TelRoute/Score league qualifying rounds are scheduled be-
tween December 5 to 18.
The top five association league round qualifiers will form an Associa-
tion team to compete in the TelRoute/Score house round in an effort to ad-
vance to the TelRoute/Score Regional round at a O.F.P.B.A. designated
location March 26.
O.F.P.B.A. Youth Challenge
Results of the Bluewatcr Association O.F.P.B.A. Youth Challenge five
game zone rolloffs held Sunday at Clinton Crown Lanes are unavailable at
press deadline and will be puhlished next week.

The Zurich Association has decided to not support a new bowlers
Awards system proposed by the Canadian Five Pin Bowlers' Association
to be considered by the O.F.P.B.A.

are represented
LUCAN - The president, secre-
tary and treasurer's tournament was
held at Lucan Lanes on November
13. The following bowlers will rep-
resent Lucan at the Hiram Walker
Special Old National League Exec-
utive championship provincial fi-
nals:
President Al Rollings, with an
178 average, bowled 228-250-182
with a total of 660, 126 pins over
his average;
Secretary Colin Brewer had an
outstanding three games, with a
215 average, he pulled off a 243-
330-311 with a grand total of
884,239 pins over his average;
Treasurer Kevin Rollings had a
good day with a 226-144-204 total
of 574 with 82 pins over his aver-
age.

Girls Club
The girls club will be having a
meeting at the Mennonite church
hall on Thursday. November 24
from 7:30 to 9 p.m. with the theme
"Carnival Night" and they'll learn
how to manage money. They are
saving pop can tabs to purchase a
wheelchair.
Bowling
Seniors are welcome to join in on
the fun and exercise at the bowling
lanes every Thursday afternoon at
2 p.m.
Door-to-door donations
The Boy Scouts and Optimist
Club members are ,going door-to-
door to collect donations of canned
goods or toys for the Children's
Christmas Bureau this Saturday,
November 26 from 10:00 a.m. to
12 noon.
Blue Water Rest Home
The Lutheran E.L.W. women
met on November 8 at Blue Water
Rest Home to entertain the resi-
dents. The opened with devotions
and hymns, followed by some chil-
dren of the Sunday School singing,
piano solos by Jenna Rader, Benja-
min Rader and Dana Thiel, and a
vocal solo by Lindsay Haberer.
The E.L.W. women presented a
skit with one -of -a -kind fashions.
Birthdays were recognized and
lunch served.

Zurich Golden Agers met No-
vember 16 at the Community Cen-
tre with 42 diners attending. Ila
O'Rourke was the 50/50 winner.
Faye Skinner informed the diners
of upcoming events. A poem 'The
Joy of Unselfish Giving' by Helen
Steiner Rice was read by Gertie
Fleischauer. The diners were de-
lighted to have a surprise visit by
Peter, Tammy and baby Michael
Antaya of Exeter during their noon
meal. Solo and euchre games fol-
lowed.
The Golden Agers will be having
a•plogressive euchre card party at
the •,,wt.ehip hall on Monday. No-
vember beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery to Marlene Bedard who broke
her arm; and to Geraldine Charrette
who is a patient in the hospital.

Congratulations to Jerry Groot
and Julie Boyce who were married
at St. Boniface Church on Novem-
ber 19 with dinner and reception at
the Varna Complex. The groom is
the the son of John and Bridget
Groot Sr., RR 1 Zurich and the
bride is the daughter of Ken and
Shirley Boyce of Goderich.
The community welcomes home
Fr. Wronski who has been away
six weeks to Poland and other plac-
es. Fr. Finn has said Mass for the
past three weekends and Fr. Morris
has also•helped.
Joey and Sandra Overholt, Lon-
don. spent the weekend with her
parents, Phil and Vonnie Overholt.
Congratulations to Percy and
Marie Bedard who recently cele-
brated their 57th anniversary on
November 15; and to Don and
Alice Masse who celebrated their
anniversary on November 27.
Bill and Helene Regier from Mt.
Carmel along with Clarence Far-
well of the Maple Woods and his
sister Marcella Dietrich from the
Rest Home spent the previous Sun-
day in Waterdown, near Hamilton
and visited with their sister Lauret-
ta Farwell.
Michelle DePaepe recently spent
10 days in Warner Robin, Georgia,
visiting with her parents and a sis-
ter and family.
Anthony Joseph Mathonia, son
of Karen and Ray, was baptized at
St. Boniface Church on Sunday,
November 20 by Fr. Wronski. His
Godparents are Ralph and Peggy
Mathonia from Hensall.
Annie VanRaay, RR 3 Dash-
wood, along with her daughter
Theresa and Mark VanBree from
Forest recently enjoyed a trip. to
Holland for 11 days, visiting with
several relatives and attending the
wedding of a niece and cousin.
A good time was had by those
who went on a bus trip November
17 to Waterloo to see the Famous
Peoples Players at the University.
They also went to the farmers mar-
ket and had dinner out.
