Where's the snow? Blake elected third village councillor
The warm weather on the weekend was incentive for many people to start setting up out-
door displays for the Christmas season. Lois and Larry Jones of Crediton were just two
of many people who could be seen decorating their homes. Now their just waiting for the
snow.

4-H member competes at Royal

STAFFA - Kim Bertens was one of the 4-H calf club members from
Perth County to participate in the Scotiabank Hay's Classic this past week-
end at the Royal Winter Fair.
Attending the showmanship show on Sunday were Dan, Nancy and
Hank Bertens, Carrah, Cain, John and Roberta Templeman.
Usborne 4-H Baking Buds

KIRKTON - Thursday, November 17 the Usborne 4-H Baking Buds
held a meeting at Anne Morley's home. There they were helped in the
baking of pies and cookies, finishing with a pizza supper.
The group's next meeting will also be at the Morley's house.
Woodworking club visits workshop

LUCAN - This is just the beginning of a dusty and fun six weeks for
members of the Lucan #3 4-H club, who are working with their hands in
woodworking.
On November 5 they saw Ken Moor's power tools, saws, hammers,
screws etc. and how they worked. After that, they saw what he made, in-
cluding tractors, wagons, little chairs and tables. The group even saw cats
and dogs but they were real.
During club business, they elected Becky Dunnell as president, Katha-
rine Saunders as vice president, Patti Dunnell as secretary and Heather
Baker as press reporter.
Leaders are Christine Geertscn-Anderson and Pamela Moor.
4-H `Fitness Freaks' exercise

EXETER -,On Monday, November 14 the Usborne 1 Fitness Freaks held
their fourth meeting. After the 4-H pledge and the minutes of the last
meeting were read by Becky Hem, Elizabeth Kerslake read the press re-
port.
They then discussed how many calories are consumed in a lunch one
day and how much exercise one would have to do to wear it off. Then the
group exercised to Richard Simmons' Sweat Oldies 3.

GRANTON - Glenn Blake was
elected as the third village council-
lor in last Monday's election. Gary
Barker and Doug Anderson were
both previously acclaimed.
Presiding at the polls in the park
pavilion were Jean Noon, Hazel
Anderson, April Bryan and Rose
Topham.
The' Firemen's banquet was held
at the Granton United Church on
Saturday night, catered by the
members of the UCW Unit 3.
At St. Thomas Anglican Church
on Sunday, Rev. Stephen Emery
celebrated the Holy Eucharist and
his message was about experienc-
ing a new faith or alpha. Jesus testi-
fied to everything about God's
Kingdom but never used power or
control.
Service time next Sunday is 8:30
a.m.
At Grand United Church on Sun-
day, Pastor Normalie Voakes mes-
sage was entitled "Of Kings and
Kingdoms". Stephanie Mills lit the
Christ candle. Flowers were placed
in the church by Anna (Hardie)
McCullough in memory of husband
Launcelot Hardie, who died No-
vember 24, 1964.
Anna also played variations of
'What a Friend we have in Jesus'
during the offertory.
Granton WI
Granton Women's Institute met
at the home of Alma Nicholson on
November 15 when the roll call
was answered by naming a Canadi-
an Industry you would choose for
employment.
Muriel Lewis chaired the meet-
ing and opened by reading "The
Seasons". Correspondence includ-
ed information about the quilt com-
petition and the Women's Rural
Resource Centre.
Silence was observed in memory
of a recently departed member Ila -
belle Harlton.
A donation was made to the No
1 Granton 41-I Club, and articles
were handed in for the Children's
Hospital of Western Ontario. Mu-
riel Lewis gave a report of the area
convention held at Mt. Brydges last
month.
Florence Bryan convened the
program when she read "Do come
in; A farmer's wife writes a col-
umn 80 years ago: Why does skin
wrinkle, Time for laughter; We do
farm in Newfoundland; building
