Home My WebLink AboutTimes Advocate, 1994-11-23, Page 20Ptigt' 20 Times -Advocate, November 23, 1994 IT'S Lucan atoms edged in final of own tournament Exeter Broncos made it all the way to the semi-finals, beaten by Lucan LUCAIsl - One goal, that was the only thing that stopped Lucan from winning the atom final of the an- nual Lucan Leprechaun Minor Hockey Tournament on the week- end. Sunday afternoon, the hosts lost the championship game 3-2 to Aylmer. Thomas Mills and Korey llodgins scored for Lucan while Trevor Smith had two assists and Wes Revington and Tyler Silver also helped out on the goals. Lucan opened the three-day tour- nament with a 2-2 tie against Ilder- ton which saw Stephen Wraith and Silver fire the goals. The second game was a win, 2-1 over Glencoe. Korey Hodgins and Dan Pletch scored for Lucan. Lucan Minor Hockey. Hodgins led the way with a pair of goals while Pletch, Wraith and Thomas Mills also connected. For Exeter, Daryl Weiss scored on a shorthanded breakaway while Tim Meidinger had the other goal and Mike Dietrich drew an assist. The Broncos started the tourna- ment with a 4-3 win over Strathroy as Mike Kerslake had a pair for the winners with singles from Weiss and Kevin Overholt. Dietrich mad perhaps the best play of the game on one of the goals when he was caught behind the Strathroy net, decided to just flip the puck over the cage v ere a teammate got his stick on it and it resulted in a goal. In their second game, the Bron- cos had another 4-3 win, this time against Oro Township. Meidinger netted two with one each off the sticks of Overholt and Scott Ralph. The peewee division saw both lo- cal teams, Lucan and Stephen Township win their first game but I come up short in the second. Stephen Rebels opened with a slim 3-2 win over Ilderton as Jeff Finkbeiner had two goals with the other from Shawn Sherwood. The second game saw the Rebels fall 3- 2 in overtime to Glencoe. Finkbein- er had both goals in that game.
