Showcase of teep
talent in Blyth
BLYTH - The imagination and
talent of many area teens will be
showcased on the stage of Blyth
Memorial Hall, November 17, 18
and 19, when the Crossroads Dra-
ma Festival features productions by
eight regional high schools.
Schools from Goderich, Wingham,
Exeter, Seaforth, Palmerston, St.
Marys, Listowel and Toronto have
all entered one -act plays in this
continually growing annual festi-
val.
Five local students along with
Bluewater Secondary School teach-
er Duncan McGregor (also a direc-
tor on the Board for the Blyth Cen-
tre for the Arts) have co-ordinated
the event which includes numerous
day -time workshops with theatre
professionals. Each' participating
school then has an opportunity to
present an evening one-hour pro-
duction, utilizing the Blyth Festi-
val's facilities and professional pro-
duction manager, Ray Salverda.
Each performance will be adjudi-
cated by well known Canadian ac-
tor and director Janet Amos, who
has returned as Artistic Director of
the Blyth Festival. She adjudicated
last February's festival and because
of her warm insightful enthusiasm
she has been invited hack for this
year.

Waste management
at hospital discussed
EXETER - The South Huron Hospital Auxiliary held its regular meeting
Tuesday, November 15.
After the meeting opened amoment of silence was observed in memory
of Alma Godbolt.
Leroy Edwards, department head of 'housekeeping' at South Huron Hos-
pital, was guest speaker and discussed "Waste Management" within the
hospital, which began in 1990 with recycling of office paper and card-
board. In April of 1991 Blue Water Recycling began pickups.
At present the hospital is recycling newspaper, shredded office paper,
clear plastic bottles, clear glass, coloured glass, cans, plastic bags and
wrap. Separation is done at the hospital and put in appropriate containers.
Hospital management is very pleased with their relationship with Blue Wa-
ter Recycling.
There is an ongoing effort within the hospital to reduce, reuse and recy-
cle, said Edwards.
Pathalogical waste is frozen and trucked away for incineration.
Edwards was thanked and presented with a gift.
Marjorie Johns, Vera Armstrong and Vera Baechler attended the Hospi-
tal Auxiliary Association of Ontario, often referred to as H.A.A.O. conven-
tion in Toronto. Sessions were held at the Royal York and Toronto Con-
vention Centre. They each gave a report of the workshops and discussion
groups they attended.
Mary Fisher, gift shop convener, reminded members to turn in tickets for
the quilt. The draw will be made at the December meeting. Tickets are
available from Auxiliary members and at the gift shop.
Proceeds from Tag Day were $11,140.00 and from the Fall Rummage
Sale $9,021.00. These two projects were a great success due to the organi-
zation of the committees in charge, the hundreds of hours given by the
many, many volunteers and the generous donations from the town and sur-
rounding communities.
Auxiliary meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month in the
Auxiliary room at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. New members and visitors are
always welcome.
A bake sale will be held prior to the Christmas meeting Tuesday, Decem-
ber 13. Baked goods are to be at the hospital by 12 noon and the meeting
will follow at 1:30 p.m.
