Christmas events planned Residents look forward to their resident/family Christmas dinner ZURICH - Tuesday afternoon Rev. Gani Lazaro, Zu- rich United Church held Bible Study in the Chapel at Blue Water Rest Horne. Tuesday evening the Christian Reformed Church (Exeter) members visited the Home with Peter Visscher as spokesman. Visscher read "Who is Lonely" and Jerry DeBocr read "So many rea- sons to thank the Lord". Annie Zandbergen read "Nothing on Earth is Forever Yours:" and the members sang hymns to their attentive audience. Steve Poortin- ga was pianist for his group and played a selection for his choir to sing in Dutch with the English translation of "U Think of the house of thc Lord". Linda De- nomme, Nurses' Aid and apartment dwellers Loreen Devine and Fergus Turnbull served cookies, coffee and tea to their guests. Rev. Cordell Parsons, Exeter United Church con- ducted Thursday afternoon Chapel Service. Fr. Matthi- as Wronski, St. Boniface Church celebrated Mass. The past six weeks Fr. Wronski has been vacationing in Polland, welcome hack! The Home van was in for repairs, so the Masonville shopping trip was rescheduled from November 18 to December 2. Sunday morning members of Zurich United Church, under the leadership of Rev. Gani Lazaro and Grace Martin as pianist, held their regular Sunday morning service in thc auditorium of Blue Water Rest Home. Many residents, some former members of Zurich Unit - cd whose health no longer allows them to attend the village congregation, enjoyed the service and reuniting with their friends and acquaintances. Monday afternoon the residents watched the video "letter from Wingfield Farm" with actor Rob Beattie portraying a Wall Street fellow applying his knowl- edge to farming in rural Ontario and just how well he came to grips with life on the farm. Best wishes to Eleanor Brown who is visiting South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Our condolences to the family of Madeline Harburn who passed way at BWRH in her 82nd year on No- vember 14, 1994. Harburn, who resided at the Homc the past three years was former resident of Hensall and the Mother of our Nurses' Aid Geraldine Eckel. The Residents look forward to a visit from their St. Boniface Buddies on November 22 and the Annual Resident/Family Christmas Dinner on November 27, 1994. Many staff members of BWRH gathered at Hessen - land Restaurant & Hotel, St. Joseph on November 22 to wish Anne Klungel, a part time registered nurse at the Homc the past 17 years a happy and long retire- ment. Anne and her husband Harry reside in Exeter when not at their Bayfield cottages or travelling the globe. They arc the former owners of Queensway Nursing Home - so Anne's many years of geriatric ser- vice should giver her great knowledge of things to come. Exeter 2360460, Ken Ogden Mgr. Caven Presbyterian Women hold regular meeting EXETER - Monday, November 14, the Caven UCW had their reg- ular meeting at 2 p.m. in the church school rooms. Twenty-two members attended. President Mrs. Donna Webster presided for the meeting. The call to worship was "We will Remem- ber Them." The devotions were taken by Mrs. Labelle Harness, repeating the "Lord's Prayer" followed by Hymn 412, Come let us sing of a wonderful love. Scripture verses from 1st Corinthians 16:2, and John 12:16 were used in a reading "Life on a Two Way Street". A Remembrance Day reading prepared by Mrs. N. Stanlake and read by Mrs. Don Webster was fol- lowed by a video on "Why should we Remember". Mrs. Webster also had a reading on John McCrae's life and how he came to write "In Flanders Field" followed by the National Anthem and a minutes si- lence. Hymn 301, Onward Chris- tian Soldiers was sung followed by prayer. - Laurie Dalrymple who has just opened a new store in Exeter called "Quilts and Calico" was the guest Memfbers share enjoyment of November EXETER - The meeting con- vened of the Exeter United Church Women (afternoon unit) at 2 p.m. with Alma Langford presiding. The minutes were read and roll call taken by each members men- tioning something nice about No- vember. Treasurer gave a report and noted that fees are to be paid in December. Helen Coates vice president of the general meeting read a thank you note from Rev. John and Mrs. Hilborn. She announced the execu- tive meeting will be held Novem- berI23 at 9:30 with the General Meeting on November 28. Plans for the bazaar were finalized. There will be quilting next week. Chairlady of the program was Mary Neil who spoke on women - past and present. Mothers of Sa- lem was sung followed by a story by Kay Greene. There are three passages a women passes through in life. Mary conducted a quiz on several ladies of the Bible noting that the word daughter appears 200 times in the Bible. Doris Denham favoured with a solo accompanied by Florence Finkbeiner. Elly Van Bergen pre- sented a monologue written by Rev. Glenn Wright. Mary present- ed a gift to Elly. Chris Philips read about the lady of today followed by a poem by Florence Finkbeincr "Thc world is mine." and showed how to mance a Christ- mas ornament. Laurie has classes starting on quilting and crafts and samples of crafts and materials to show. Roll call, minutes of last meeting and reports were given and other business discussed. The meeting closed with prayer by Rev. Hender- son. A delicious lunch and social time was then enjoyed with Mrs. Margaret Strang and Mrs. June Hiller in charge of the social time.
