Titres stolen: On October 11, Haugh Tire on Thames Road in Ex- eter was the victim of theft when thieves broke into a storage trailer on the property. The thieves pried a lock off the trailer door and then stole eight Michelin XZV 1 1Rx22.5 large truck tires and another eight Bridge- stone 740 1 I Rx22.5 Targe truck tires. It would appear the thieves passed by many other tires in the trailer and stole only what thcy needed. A vehicle described as possibly being a 1983 Dodge extended van, dark blue in colour is suspected to have been involved in this matter. Jewellery theft: On September 27, at 12:38 a.m. Bakelaar Jew- ellers at 421 Main Street South in Exeter was broken into when four suspects entered the store after kicking in a rear door. One suspect is described as being 5'10" to six feet tall, and wear- ing a black and white scarf wrapped around the face to hide all but the eyes. He exited the building first and stood guard while thetoth- er three remained inside and came out later with their arms full of items. The other three suspects also had their heads covered and no further description of them is available. Stolen were a Targe quantity of women's rings and necklaces in both gold and silver. All parties fled the scene in a silver coloured two -door hatchback Honda and went southbound on William Street. A Honda CRX that was reported stolen from London was later recovered with a small amount of jewellery in it. Police believe the thieves to he from Lon- don and are seeking your assistance in this matter. Stolen canoe: On October I, a canoe was reported stolen from Lot 22, Lake Road South in Stanley Township. The canoe was se- curely stored at the cottage and is described as a 12-fixn Aluminum Craft, silver and maroon in colour. CARMEL - The October 3 meeting of Mt. Carmel C.W.L. was hosted by Helens Regier's group. As scheduled speakers were unable to attend, members instead viewed a video entitled "Rescue with Joan Andrews". A newsletter "She's a Child Not a Choice" were available for distribution. A letter from the C.W.L.'s family through Save -A -Family Plan was circulated. Ouseph Memgerdu of Kerala, India explained in his letter that they had experienced their worst flooding in fifty years this past rainy season. C.W.L. is petitioning the provin- cial government to give municipali- ties the right to pass by-laws which would deny permission for adult video stores to set up business in their communities. Mt. Carmel Christmas bazaar to be held at Dashwood Community Centre on November 12 will in- clude crafts, a bake table, penny sale, fish pond, pay -as -you -pull draw, a tearoom and more. The December meeting will'be a Christmas dinner to be held at Town & Country Restaurant in Crediton.
