Wheelin 'n dealin'
Lea Greenwood (right) was calling the tunes Wednesday
evening when the Clinton Wheel 'N Dealers brought their
square dancing to Exeter's South Huron Recreation Centre.
Seventy-five dancers (below) showed off their steps to
about 200 visitors at the evening, which was sponsored by
the Exeter Royal Bank.
Most board trustees acclaimed
EXETER - Many voters in Huron
County won't have to worry about
who to choose to represent them on
the Huron County Board of Educa-
tion on November 14, since i1 of
the 14 positions have been ac-
claimed. But that's not the case
with six other boards in the area.
In a nutshell, voters will have to
seek out a candidate who will make
sure that elementary and secondary
schools meet provincial standards,
see that local education needs and
priorities are addressed and keep
expenditures to a level which tax-
payers can afford.
The school board vote is im-
portant since it is the oldest form of
government in Ontario - older than
municipal councils and the pro-
vincial legislature.
Here's a quick look at who's run-
ning in the Times -Advocate read-
ership area:
Huron County Board
of Education
At (east 11 of 14 trustees will be
returning to the board after No-
vember 14 although there will be a
few changes.
Pauline VanDerLcy, representing
the town of Exeter, will replace re-
tiring board member Jim Chapman.
As well, board chairman Graeme
Craig has announced he will be
stepping down. He will be re-
placed as trustee representative for
Seaforth and the Township of
McKillop by Pauline Siemon.
Those already acclaimed include:
Allan Carter representing the
Township of Tuckersmith and Vil-
lage of Hensall; Bea Dawson,
Townships of Hay and Usbornc
and Village of Zurich; and Bob
Heywood, Township of Stephen.
Meanwhile, voters in the Township
of Stanley and Village of Bayfield
will have to chose between in-
cumbent Bob Burton and newcom-
er Abby Armstrong.
Huron -Perth County
Roman Catholic
Separate School Board
Acclaimed are: Mike Miller rep-
resenting the Townships of Hay
and Stanley as well as the villages
of Hensall, Zurich and Bayfield.
Mike Ryan will also be back, repre-
senting the Town of Exeter and
Township of Stephen.
There will be a race for the seat
representing the Townships of
Blanshard and Downie and Town
of St. Marys between incumbent
Bernard Murray and newcomer
Walter Pearce.
Perth County Board
of Education
Voters in the Townships of Blan-
shard and Downie will have to
chose between incumbent Wendy
Anderson and incumbent Peter
Black.
Middlesex County Board
- • of Education
Voters in the Townships of
McGillivray, East Williams, West
Williams, the Village of Ailsa
Craig and the town of Parkhill will
have two candidates to chose from.
Both Michael Cooper and Cheryl
Norman are newcomers.
Also new on the scene are Scott
Delorme-Triebner, Bob Harvey and
Sharon Needham all vying to repre-
sent the Townships of Biddulph
and London as well as the Village
of Lucan. Voters will choose two
of the three.
London and Middlesex County
Catholic School Board
Connie Bontje, Aldo Caranci and
Gil Van Der Spank are vying for
the seat representing the Village of
Lucan as well as the Townships of
Biddulph, London, Dorchester and
West Nissouri.
The will be a race between Lucy
Hendrix and Mari Strybosch
Bruijns for the scat representing the
Village of Ailsa Craig, Townships
of McGillivray, Adelaide, Met-
calfe, West Williams, East Wil-
liams and the Towns of Parkhill

of Education
There are a few options when it
comes to the school board in Grand
Bend. If eligible to vote for Eng-
lish candidates, the race is with in-
cumbent Victor Alderson against
Don Lithgow and Leigh Crozier.
If eligible to vote for French can-
didates, voter wills have to chose
three of the following: Marcel Can -
tin, Mario LeClerc, Denis Longpre,
Monique Martel or Suzanne
McGoldrick.
Lambton County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board
Again, there are candidates run-
ning for both English and French
positions.
The race for English candidates is
between incumbent John Boere and
newcomer Harry Willemse.
French candidates are: Joseph
Gravel, Madeline Leblanc -Connor,
Leo J. Mayer, Normand Plante, and
Michel Robichaud. Voters will
have to pick three representatives.
