Bob Taylor, chairman of the Lucan Community Centre Board at the right receives a
cheque from Mary Jane Van Kasteren of the Lucan Optimists and Lucan Lions president
Rob Brady. The cheque in excess of $4,000 came from proceeds of a recent barbecue
sponsored by the two service clubs.

costumes
ZURICH - The Buddies came, or
was it the goblins on Tuesday
morning? On any account, Marga-
ret Suplat brought her grade five
class from St. Boniface School to
visit the residents at Blue Water
Rest Home. Each child came as
their favourite Hallowe'en charac-
ter and brought along something
for their resident Buddy to wear.
There was bean bag tossing into
pumpkins, Hallowe'en singing and
Barbara Plumb was honoured with
a birthday song in honour of her 73
years.
In the evening the Lakeview Con-
servative Mennonite Church mem-
bers visited the Home to sing
hymns and socialize with the resi-
dents. "Jesus needs helpers from
day to day - would you be free
from your burden of sin?", "Tell
me the old, old story" and many
more of their favourite hymns were
sung.
It was off for a picnic at Lambton
Heritage Museum on Friday for
many residents. Everyone enjoyed
the autumn colours, the harvesting
of corn, the ploughing of fields,
pumpkin displays and the homes
decorated for Hallowe'en on route.
Vera Thiel, Kurt Gebel, Nelson
Howe, Dorothy Bapty, Earl (Duke)
Yungblut, Rose Merner, Catherine
Riehl, Pearl Miller, Harry Maas,
Esther Makins, Ruby Bell and Edna
Johnston enjoyed looking at all the
items on display from yesteryear.
Each resident had their wheelchair
helper - Lisa Haines, Angelika
Metzger, Cathy Maas, Cathy
Shantz, and Anne with sons Mi-
chael and Allen McBride.
Videos viewed by residents this
week were "Lantern Hill" written
by Lucy Montgomery and "Man
from Utah" with John Wayne - the
man who taught the models how to
do the "Cat Walk" routine.
Residents welcome home Karl
Heideman, from St. Joseph Hospi-
tal, London. Their best wishes are
extended to Laura Finkbeiner who
is visiting South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
