Grand Bend
antique show
GRAND BEND - Ten new col-
lectors from across Ontario will be
displaying their goods at The Ro-
tary Club of Grand Bend's Third
Annual Antique Show at Oakwood
Inn, Grand Bend, Ontario, on Sat-
urday and Sunday, November 5
and 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.in. In
addition 15 prestigious dealers ate
returning to sell their artifacts at
the show.
A gala wine and cheese recep-
tion will again open the show Fri-
day evening, November 4 from 7
p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets for Friday
evening are eligible for a door
prize for a weekend for two at the
Oakwood Inn. Guests can mingle
with dealers and obtain the first
chance to purchase extraordinary
antiques.
Rotarian convener, Dorothy
Peat, is impressed with the dealers
who are committed to the show.
"The variety and quality of the dis-
plays will be excellent", she said.
"It's going to be a superb show."
One of the qualifications for the
dealers is that the artifacts must be
genuine antiques at least 50 years
old. Some of the antiques on dis-
play will include the following
items: pottery, litnoge dishes, jew-
ellery, linens, lace, quilts, clocks,
silver, Canadiana furniture, toys,
paintings, frames, early Canadian
press glass, figurines, dolls and old
tools.
The Rotary Club will operate a
consignment booth at the show.
Anyone may submit an article to
be sold provided that is is 50 years
in age. The Rotary Club will take
20 percent of the sale cost. Contact
Brian Hall at 238-8892, before No-
vember 4.
The admission price for Satur-
day and Sunday is $4. per person..
Proceeds from the show will go
toward Rotary Community pro-
jects in the area, such as the ongo-
ing Palliative Care Project for the
region.

Liona Boyd to
perform at
Blyth Festival
BLYTH - Juno Award winning
guitarist Liona Boyd will make a
November 8, return appearance at
the Blyth Festival as part of the se-
ries of fall fund raisers that will
cap off a very successful season at
Blyth.
Through her composition talents,
extensive international touring and
16 record albums she is acknowl-
edged as one of the world's lead-
ing classical guitarists who has
over the years embraced not only
the classical style, but also pop,
jazz, latin and soft rock.
As a graduate of the University
of Toronto Liona won the Canadi-
an National Music Competition
and went to make her debut at
Carnegie Hall to rave reviews. She
has toured internationally as a so-
loist and with well known tnGsi-
cians such as Gordon Lightfoot
and Tracy Chapman.
Her musical talents have been
recognized by many gold and plat-
inum records, four Juno Awards,
three honorary degrees and the Or-
der of Canada. in addition she is a
four -time winner of the Guitar
Player Magazine poll for top clas-
sical guitarist.
