"It's an idea I have had for a long time," said organizer Paula Sereda. "It was a matter of call- ing around and asking who was interested in being part of it," she said. And to her surprise, there were a lot of local businesses that we interested in taking part in a group effort to promote weddings and other special oc- casions. Sereda said a lot of people are celebrating weddings, an- niversaries and other big occa- sions with flair these days. This reception should give people an idea of what it takes to set up such a function. The planning started in Au- gust when Sereda and a number of others decided to sit down and do some brainstorming on the idea and what they wanted to achieve with the reception. "Once we started meeting with others, the nostalgia theme came about," she said. And the Old Town Hall seemed the perfect place because there is such a his- tory to the building. The majority of sponsors and displays will be downstairs in the Old Town Hall where Elli- son Travel used to be located. Upstairs they will have a DJ and other exhibits, including on-going fashion shows. "We have gowns dating back to 1 896. Sereda said. "We went acL-ans through the community to get nostalgia items," she said. "It should be a nice stroll down memory lane" Included in those nostalgia items are two wedding albums that belonged to a one time flower shop called Reder's Flor- ist that was located in Exeter. Sereda said the albums will be on display, with the hope that many people in the photos can be identified. Sereda said there will also be a lot of surprise draws and door prizes. "It should be a nice stroll down memory lane," she said. As well, the reception will give people a chance to see how weddings might look in the fu- ture. "We're looking at it being a fun afternoon," Sereda said. Guess who?
