It's official
Kids Club is the official name of the before and after school program held at Hensall pub-
lic school. Heather Hogarth (on right), a Mount Carmel student, filled out a ballet in the
summer suggesting the name. The official announcement was made on Thursday night.

held at St. Patrick's church

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's was decorated with
fall flowers and vegetables on Sunday, September
25, 18th Sunday after Pentecost to celebrate their
I 34th Harvest Thanksgiving Service.
The Processional hymn was 'Come Ye Thankful
People Come' followed by the children's focus
when Rev. Stephen Emery spoke about "In our life
with God - there is waiting", followed by 'What a
Friend we have in Jesus'. Courtney MacGillivray
and Crystal Davis were servers for the Holy Com-
munion Service. Margaret Carroll and Courtney
MacGillivray red the Old and New Testament
Readings. Tfie mesage was ba§ed en 7atfies' 4, 'Yet
you do not even know what tomorrow will bring.
What is , your life? For you are a mist that appears for
a little while then vanishes.'
Flowers in the chancel were given in fond and lov-
ing memory of Heber Davis and Almarie Davis
Young by Mary and families; and the pulpit flowers
in loving memory of Grandpa and Grandma Carroll
and Uncle Cliff and Aunt Ada Ings by Ron and Mar-
garet Carroll and family. The hymn 'The Lord is My
Shepherd' was sung during the offering.
Prayers followed the Eucharist remembering the
sick in the parish especially Marguerite Greenlee and
Starr Davis from St. Patrick's. Recessional hymn
'Faith of our Fathers' was followed by a time of fel-
lowship in the Parish Hall.
There will be no service at St. Patrick's on October
2. St. Paul's, Kirkton will celebrate their Uarvest
Service at 10:00 a.m. Scripture readings are to be
Genesis 2: 18-24, Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:5-12, Psalm 128,
The Holy Gospel St. Mark 10:2-16.
Congratulations to Harley Davis who placed sec-
ond in the 60 cc Pee Wee Division in Maple Leaf
Mx Seriiat Gopher Dunes, Courtland on Sunday.
Mary avis, Mabel Needham and Marguerite
Greenlee along with a number of Hodgins relatives
met at Heywoods Restaurant on Tuesday for a birth-
day iiarty honouring cousins Alma Godbolt of Exeter
and Elva Godbolt of Listowel.
Dorothy Wilker, Janett Barker and Iola Goring vis-
ited with Mary Davis recently and also called on
Marguerite and Earl Greenlee.
On Sunday, Mary Davis was a guest of Jim and Ja-
nett Barker to celebrate Charlotte Barker's 91st birth-
day.
Hugh and'Hazel Davis and Heather MacGillivray
called on Mary Davis Sunday evening.

CENTRALIA - Rob Essery
would like to thank everyone who
supported the hirbecue at Holtz-
mann's IGA Friday and Saturday.
Thank you to the people who
helped cook ind serve, and also to
those who dropped by for a ham-
burger or hot dog and a chat.
Special thanks to Holtzmann's
for their support of this activity for
Centralia United Church.
Exeter Fair had good weather for
outdoor activities such as the pa-
rade, rides, horse shows, and 4H
calf show. Many people from the
Centralia area participated.
Card players met recently at
Heywoods' Restaurant for several
euchre games. Winners for the la-
dies were Madeline Switzer (high),
and Grace Wurm (lone hands).
The men's winners were John
Hedden (high) and Alan Berry
(lone hands). Bernice Squires won
the special.

VARNA - The Varna Goshen,
Brucefield and Kippen United
Churches will have combined
youth programme as they have in
the past. The meetings take place at
Brucefield Church.
The Teen Set which is High
school age will meet Thursday,
September 29 at 7:30 p.m. The
Trends (ages 10 to grade eight) will
meet Thursday, October 6 at 7:30
p.m.
There will also be a Bible Study
in St. Andrews United Church in
Bayfield Wednesdays at 10 a.m. for
anyone interested from Varna and
Goshen.
The Varna Church was filled on
Sunday, September 18 for Varna
Anniversary with Miriam DeRivers
leading the Service. A trio of the
Finlayson sisters sang "Jesus Loves
Me" and "He Touched Me" which
was the highlight.
