er to Gerhard Rempel Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Rem-
pel of Dashwood. The cer-
emony will take place on Sat-
urday, October 1 at St. James
Anglican Church, Parkhill. Re-
ception at 9:00 p.m. at South
Huron Recreation Centre, Ex-

Fundraising Drive
United Way presented South Huron Big Brothers and Big Sisters with a cheque for
$1,500 on Friday. This was the third cheque for the year, totally more than $5,000 that
the United Way gave to the organization. Helen Johns on right is the director and treasur-
er of the United Way. Presenting the cheque is United Way director Cheryl Masson while
Ron Anderson, president of South Huron's Big Brothers/Sisters accepts the cheque on
behalf of his organization. The 1994/95 fundrainsing drive will be underway beginning in
October.
Hensall Legion members
to visit Parkwood Hospital
The group are taking
a bus to Parkwood Oc-
tober 1.

HENSALL - The regular meeting
of the Hensall Legion Br. 468 was
held September 14.
October 1 there will be a visit to
Parkwood Hospital by Cl. There
will be a bus leaving the Legion
Hall at 10:00 a.m. The group will
have lunch at the hospital upon arri-
val Members are encouraged to at-
tend as the vets enjoy the visits.
The Provincial Service Officer
Mel Harper will again be visiting
the Legion on October 12 at 4:30
p.m. Call Branch President Larry
Uyl to arrange an appointment
(262-2618). If veterans or widows
of veterans have „ny questions they
may come and speak with Harper.
Historlal Society
A slide presentation -and lecture
"Prelude to D -Day" is being pre-
sented at Brucefield United Church
by John Mellor B.A., M.A., Octo-
ber 28 at the Annual Dinner Meet-
ing of the Huron County Historical
Society. Mellor, as part of the Roy-
al Marine Commando in the initial
assault, has a unique perspective of
the topic. Mellor is the author of
"Dieppe" and "Canada's Forgotten
Heroes" to name a few. For more
information call Bill or Rae McFar-
lane (565-5200).
Seniors
The Hensall Sunset Seniors had
their September meeting at the
Hensall United Church. Sixteen
members had a potluck dinner. Hel-
en McKay welcomed everyone and
gave a reading, "Rummage Sale Fe-
ver". The group arc to entertain at
the Birthday Party at Huronview,
March 15, 1995. The Fall Rally is
at Seaforth, October 13, with regis-
tration at 11:30 a.m. Winners of the
cards were Gerrie Moir, Isobel Ro-
gcrsdii, Audrey Christie and Eileen
Rannic.
Scouts
The Scout Movement registration
will be September 21 at Ifensall
Public School from 7 to 8 p.m.
Volunteer leaders are needed for
the group to continue.
Horticultural Society
The Hensall Horticultural Socie-
ty met September 12. Thc meeting
opened with a poem read by presi-
dent Kathy Mann. After the busi-
ness portion of the meeting con-
cluded, guest speaker Stephanie
Scholten was introduced. Scholten,
a landscape architect from (}ode -
rich, discussed some memorable
projects and the changes in her pro-
fession over the years. Sandra
Turner thanked the speaker and
draws were conducted. President
Kathy Mann closed the meeting
with a poem and lunch followed.
United Church
Rev. Henry Annen conducted the
service this past Sunday, at Hensall
United Church. The organist was
Doug Klopp.
Pastor Henry Annen was ap-
pointed Pastoral Supervisor for the
Brucefield-Kippen pastoral charge..
Because of this, Pastor Annen wilt
be leading the congregation of
Brucefield-Kippen in communion
on September 25 and December 4.
Supply student Paul Gilroy will be
conducting services at Hensall
United on these Sundays.
A reminder that the Official
Board meeting of the Hcnsall Un-
tied Church will be held September
21.
PCW
The P.C.W. of Carmel Presbyter-
ian Church held their September
meeting last Monday. President Jan
Baker opened the mecting with a
fall poem. The roll call was an-
swered and thank you notes were
read from Caroline Love Regier
and Emma Campbell. Thc women
were happy to have Emma Camp-
bell in the group again. Jancth
Sangster conducted the worship,
speaking on religious symbolism.
Edith Bell was thc pianist for thc
evening.
Guest speaker, Karen Mahon of
Hilton Toasted Oats in Staffa, gave
an interesting account of their fam-
ily business and anyone who
wished to could buy a box of oats.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read by Marg Varley and ap-
proved: During a short b(siness
session reports were given by Win-
nie Skea for kitchen supply, Cathy
Bell for cards and treats, and Mari-
lyn Campbell gave the finance re-
port.
Baker thanked the women who
helped with bingo at Queensway
and voiced appreciation to Blair
Moir for his painting. The meeting
closed with prayer and lunch was
served by Baker and Varley.

Hensall Arca parents are encour-
aged to contact the Hensall Before/
After School Program (262-2305)
or Karen Jolly (262-3207) for in-
formation about this fantastic pro-
gram. The program has had very
enthusiastic participants, however,
numbers have been few. Find out
what the children arc so excited
about. The program may have to be
cancelled if enrolment doesn't in-
crease. Parents should find out
what the program has to offcr, be-
fore the program is no longer.
