speaking
competition
at the Royal
Winter Fair
TORONTO - Young people be-
tween the ages of 16 and 24 who
like to speak their mind are invited
to participate in a public speaking
competition at the Royal Agricul-
tural Winter Fair in Toronto.
The first prize winner will re-
ceive $700 cash and the opportuni-
ty to spend a day with the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture, Food and
Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) explor-
ing areas of particular interest to
them. The next five runners-up
will also receive cash prizes.
Contestants will give a timed
five -to seven -minute speak in Eng-
lish or French on one of four sug-
gested topics. This year's topics
include: Canadian Agriculture -
Competing in the Global Market-
place; International Year of the
family - Supporting our Canadian
Farm Families; Junior Farmers'
Association of Ontario - Celebrat-
ing 50 years of Self -Help and
Community Betterment; and the
Changing Face of our Rural Com-
munities.
The competition is co-sponsored
by the Farm Credit Corporation
and OMAFRA and will take place
at the oyal Agricultural Winter
Fair on Saturday, November 12,
1994.
Those interested in participating
can obtain official rules and appli-
cation forms at any field office of
the Ontario Ministry of Agricul-
ture, Food and Rural Affairs or
Farm Credit Corporation. Appli-

September 30, 1994, along with

Floating along
No fair would be complete without music from the South Huron District High School
band. They were along for the ride at the Kirkton Fal! Fair on Saturday. The long line of pa-
rade floats included the Blanshard Recreation and Community Centre which Alisia Finan,
below, was on.

PROPOSED PUBLIC ROAD NAME CHANGES SECTION
210(111) OF THE MUNICIPAL ACT, R.S.O. 1990
NOTICE Is hereby given that the Council of the Township of Hibbert
Intends to pass a by-law to name public roads which may not have
been previously named, and to change the name of public roads
which may have been previously named.
The public road naming, or change of name Is intended to facilitate
the County -wide municipal addressing system which Is required to be
In place prior to the Implementation of the "9-1-1" emergency
response system for ambulance, fire and pollee services throughout
the county. In addition, the municipal addressing system will facilitate
the delivery of goods and services (I.e. mall, courier, school buses,
etc.).
The proposed public road naming system Is composed of Lines (east -
west oriented roadways) and Roads (north -south oriented roadways).
Lines in rural areas will be numbered south to north, starting at 1 on
the south boundary of the County (e.g. Line 1). Roads In the rural
areas will be numbered east to west, starting at 101 on the east
boundary of the County (e.g. Road 101). Roadways In bulft-up areas
(i.e. hamlets) will be given local names (e.g. Main Street).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed naming/renaming
