from the University of Wind-
sor. Kim received her Bache-
lor of Science degree in nurs-
ing at the convocation in June
and has successfully com-
pleted her Canadian Licen-
sure Examinations for Regis-
tered Nurses.
On a windy and slightly chilly Sunday afternoon in Grand Bend, not too many were lining
up to ride on the ferris wheel set up for the Summer Fest on the beach. However, even

Harvest fun at Pioneer Village
LONDON - The Village Harvest
Celebration -- one of the most pop-
ular special event weekends of the
season at Fanshawc Pioneer Vil-
lage - takes place August 27, 28,
from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Queensway residents
take in garden party
HENSALL - The residents of Quecnsway were getting in shape this
week at Fun & Fitness. They were also testing their knowledge with a triv-
ia quiz.
Shirley Luther led the church service. Following thc service, residents
enjoyed their supper club. Although the barbecue got rained out residents
still enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers along with a potato casserole, corn
and cherry cheesecake for dessert.
On Wednesday afternoon, a car trip was taken to Bill Gibson's annual
garden party. Residents enjoyed a peaceful stroll around Bill's yard. Fol-
lowing the floral display they sang many old time songs while Bill Gibson
and Joyce Pepper provided accompaniment on the organ and piano. They
finished off the afternoon with Bill's carrot cake with ice cream. it is a trip
thc residents all look forward to thoroughly enjoy.
Thursday evening the Huron Country Young Players featured a musical
revue. They sang and danced to many old songs that the residents remem-
bered, such as Hello Dolly, a Vera Lynn Medley and Auld Ling Sync.
Congratulations to thc Huron Country Playhouse for putting on such a
wonderful production.
Upcoming
August 25 at 7 p.m. will be the August Birthday Party and a volunteer
meeting will be held September 6 at 10 a.m.
Just like in bygone days, visitdrs
will see how the early settlers
gathered the wheat crop by hand,
first binding the grain into sheaves
then putting the sheaves into
stooks - and the stooks into the
threshing machine. These old-
fashioned harvesting demonstra.-
tions as well as displays of antique
farming equipment, such as a
threshing machine and tractor, will
be put on by thc Tri -County Heri-
tage Club.
fn addition to harvesting demon-
strations, there will also be a corn
roast for all those who enjoy tuck-
ing into freshly picked corn -on -
the -cob and a Kean pot will be sim-
mering outside the log house.
Freshly Naked pies. made by the
Village women, will be available
for sale in the Village tea and
Treasures tea room and gift shop.
There will he lots of other fun
things for the family to see and do
during the Village Harvest Cele-
bration. There will be musical en-
tertainment by The Pioneers Olde
Tyme Music, wagon rides, crafts
and games for children such as
quoits, crokinolc, marbles and pio-
neer demonstrations.
Fashawe Pioneer Village, locat-
ed on Fanshawe Park Rd., east of
Clarke Road, is London's only liv-
ing history museum featuring
more than 20 restored or recon-
structed buildings, costumed inter-
preters ' and demonstrations of
skills and pastimes of yesteryear.

ELIMVILLE - Osborne Town-
ship will no longer have its own
dog control officer as of today.
Township council agreed at its
last meeting to let an agreement
with Howard Currie to provide dog
control services to lapse, and to use
Currie's services on an "as needed"
basis in the Elimville area only.
Under the new arrangement, Cur-
rie will be paid $30 per call author-
ized by the township office for dog
complaints from Elimville resi-
dents.
