with the Rotary Club.
VARNA - On August 18 Erin
Keys, daughter of Ervin and Helen,
leaves for Belgium on a student ex-
change through the Rotary Club.
On Sunday at the end of the
chyrch service at Goshen, minister
Miriam Jones, on behalf of the con-
gregation extended best wishes to
Erin and offered prayer on her be-
half. She then presented her with a
small- bottle of earth from the
church flower bed for her to take
along and keep in her suitcase or in
a drawer to remind her the church
is always with her. She also gave
her a "Guardian Angel" pin to put
on her red hlazer, which is already
loaded with pins she has exchanged
from other students that she met at
occasional orientation weekends
through the last few months. Sonie

Theatrical performance
for Blue Water residents
If the mountain can't come to
Mohammed, then Mohammed will go
to the. mountain.
ZURICH - Monday evening members of Huron Country Playhouse vis-
ited Blue Water Rest Horne to entertain the residents with music, compli-
ments of Big V. The group arc entertaining seniors from Sarnia to Wing -
ham - with the philosophy if the mountain can't come to Mohammed, then
Mohammed will go to the mountain!
For many residents who rely on assistance from nursing staff, there is no
place like home because they know what to expect and where to get it. For
these reasons and price, many seniors never venture to public theatrical
performances.
Steven Gauci, Christian Jeffrey, Melodic Shannon, Mai Liis Todd and
Carl Zvonkin amused the audience with their performance.
Tuesday evening the St. Andrews UCW, Bayfield visited the Home for
the August Birthday Party celebration. Doreen McKenzie was chairperson
for the evening and John and Kathleen Siertsema, Ted and Jean Dunn,
Cliff Anderson, Bob Davidson, John Campbell, Clark Wilson and Esther
Wright helped entertain the residents with song. Elizabeth Anderson was
pianist and flutist for the group. John sang "I Don't Know Who Holds To-
morrow".
Birthday wishes and presents were presented to Ellen McGonigal, Ade-
line Denomy, Esme Rigler and Margaret Snell. Mary Ellen Gingerich and
Donna Klopp, BWRH Auxiliary served cookies and refreshments to the
residents and guests.
Wednesday afternoon Ruth Rhode, Christy Pardys and Mary Feldskov, a
group called "Sounds of Summer" from the Brussels Mennonite Fellow-
ship, visited the Homc to entertain the residents. The group have a summer
"Seed Grant" to entertain children and seniors in the Sarnia to Wingham
arca.
Best wishes to Joseph Kenda, Sr. who is at South Huron Hospital. Exet-
er.
The residents arc enjoying a new 50" TV screen in the auditorium.
They have been viewing videos at least once a week and sometimes
twice during the winter season. Forty residents have been crowded around
a 26" TV screen. Now the residents can sit way, way hack and still get in
on the action. it has remote control and you can continue to watch the ball
game (after the strike) while the nurse flicks through on the window
screen to see what action there is on other channels. The Home recently re-
ceived a donaton of over $3,2(x) from Bayview Golf Club Ltd./Gillette
Canada inc./Sic trax and the majority felt this was a useful way to use the
donation. Two years ago the Home received $1,000 from the Gillette/
Bayvicw Charity Tournament and it was used toward the Gordon Erh
Walkway Fund.

GRAND BEND - It wasn't meant
to top Woodstock '94, but organiz-
ers are still a bit disappointed with
the response to the first Lawnchair
Jamboree at the Grand Bend air-
port.
The Sunday afternoon event only
drew a small number of people to
the outdoor music concert.
"We didn't have much support,"
said organizer Doug Jennison.
"The bands were excellent."
Although a cold wind off the lake
had people on the beach shivering,
Jennison said the airport was well
sheltered that afternoon.
"There could have been more
people there," he admitted. "The
people that didn't come missed a
good show."
The four acts lined up for the af-
ternoon included Rick Powell, a
tribute to Elvis, Ronny Fray, and
Midnight Highway. Even though
the Jamboree lost money, Jennison
promised that "we won't give up or
get discouraged that easily."
"Our area definitely needs some-
thing like that," he said.

Taking drugs while pregnant or breast-feeding
can pose problems. What can you take safely?
When in doubt, check before you take any med-
ication, to avoid harm to the fetus or baby.
There never are enough organs available for transplant. A Mon-
treal man placed a classified ad in the newspaper saying he
would donate a kidney if someone would give him a job. This ac-
tion highlights the desperation of unemployment as well as the
great need for organ donation. Are you an organ doner?
A study done on boxers using MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imag-
ing), showed that four out of ten boxers have suffered some
brain damage. Are we surprised?
The Dow -Corning corporation is working on a new type of drug
patch that will stick to the inside of the cheek. The cheek
doesn't have the tough, keratinized layer our outerskin has, so it
allows some drugs to penetrate better.
