Another two rides are planned for

Prior to the start of the Grand Bend to London MS Tour on Saturday morning, organizers went

Paul Brown makes
them laugh again
in Cooney comedy
HCP presents Not Now Darling

GRAND BEND - Put another notch in the Paul Brown - Huron Country
Playhouse tickle me funny belt.
It's tough to go wrong with a comedy, after all, everyone likes to laugh.
But the HCP door -slamming production Not Now Darling is more than
laughter.
Director Walter Learning gives the talented Brown a green -light to do
what he does best -.be silty on stage in front of hundreds of people. Regu-
lars will remember Brown from last year's performance in the farce Out of
Order and this year he was in the slightly more serious Lend Me A Tenor.
Putting it bluntly, if you're not a Paul Brbwn fan, you" don't like to
laugh.
Brown kind of reminds this reviewer of great screen stars like Robin
Williams and Eddie Murray/ho are allowed to just follow the script's di-
alogue and ad lib the gestures wherever and whenever they feel ft.
But while Not Now Darling is truly Brown at his best, what is good
about this Ray Cooney and John Chapman written comedy is that it does
not simply highlight Brown.
His sidekick in this one is Brian•McKay who plays Gilbert Bodley, Ar-
nold Crouch's (Brown) partner in a very expensive English fur salon.
The plot is a simple one which has Bodley in a predicament which he
needs the help of Crouch to get out of. Bodley, married for 20 years, has
his eyes on a dancer by the name of Jane McMichael.
McMichael, played by the beautiful and long-legged Melodee Finlay
keeps throwing her clothes out the window so she can blackmail Bodley
into giving her a fur coat.
She isn't the only one who loses her clothing as several very attractive
women are scantly -clad and all make the shy Crouch very bashful.
Rugged Stephen Russell, who returns to the Playhouse after last year's
Wait Until Dark, is Harry McMichael who has a little something in his
hidden closet - his secretary.
Not to give any more of the plot away, this is a must see which runs un-
til August 13.
The set, designed by the HCP's own Robert J. Ivey is simple as this two
act, although it could easily be a long one act play, needs just two ele-
ments, the window to get rid of clothes and three doors for exiting, en-
tering and escaping.
.Next on the boards: The Huron Country Playhouse's next, and final
show of the summer season is the Max Reimer directed Oaklahoma which
begins August 16, good luck, getting tickets for this one as rumours have
it, it's going to he a smash.
Funnyman Paul Brown (Arnold Crouch), Shauna Black (Sue
Lawson) and Anne Farquhar (Miss Tipdale) in the Ray Cooney/
John Chapman farce Not Now Darling playing at Huron Country
Playhouse until August 13.
