Midgets win two at OBA qualifier
Friday's opening game against Goderich was very disappointing
KINCARDINE - Ahead 7-4 heading into the final inning, the Exeter
Riverview Estates could not hang on against Mitchell at the Ontario Base-
ball Association midget 'D' qualifying tournarnent in Kincardine on the
weekend.
Late Saturday night against league rivals Mitchell, Exeter lost 8-7 as a
result of a couple of costly outfielder errors. Both teams finished their
WOBA division with identical 16-4 records and are scheduled to play a
sudden -death tie -breaking game this week.
The winner will then face Hanover for the league, championship in a best
two -out -of -three series. Hanover is the defending OBA champs.
Against Mitchell, righthander Dwayne McNab went the distance and
pitched fairly well as he struck out four, walked two and allowed eight
hits.
Bill Hodge who made several outstanding catches while patrolling cen-
tre field, had a double in this game with singles from McNab, Aaron Bay-
er and Jeff Glavin.
Goderich 6, Exeter 2
Friday night in their opener, Exeter was surprised by a determined
Goderich team. Exeter came into the game having beaten Goderich quit
easily during five meetings this summer.
Exeter starting pitcher Adam Dousky gave up three hits and a pair of
walks in the first inning as'Goderich leaped in front 4-0. The Exeter bats
were cold, coming up with only three hits as Glavin doubled while Mike
Schwindt and Darryl Hartman had singles.
Exeter 12, Shelbourne 0
Early Saturday morning, Exeter got on the winning side of things as
Hartman went the distance on the hill, allowing just two hits while strik-
ing out four and walking two.
Hodge had a double and a pair of singles while Dwight Gingerich and
McNab each added a double and a base hit. Joe Maskell had a pair of hits
while Blake Schade and Glavin also connected.
Exeter scored four runs in each of the first, third and fifth frames.
Exeter 10, Listowel 9
In their second game on Saturday, Exeter slipped behind 4-0 in the first
but came right back in the same inning to tie things up.
Gingerich worked on the mound for four innings striking out seven
while walking four. Glavin came on in relief and he fanned four and
walked five.
Schade had the big Exeter hat with two doubles and a single while Hart-
man had three base hits. Chad Desjardine, Hodge, Glavin, Gingerich,
McNab, Joe Maskell and Jason Maskell all had hits.
Chad Desjardine, left; hung on to the ball despite being knocked over during the Exeter River-
view midgets opening game in Kincardine against Goderich.

Centennials
beat Nairn
NAIRN - Despite having a short
bench due to injuries and vacations
the Exeter Centennials still man-
aged a 1-0 win over Naim in West-
ern Ontario Soccer League action
on Sunday.
In a must win game, the Cen-
tennials were looking for the vic-
tory to keep their playoff hopes
alive.
Following a scoreless first half,
George McEwan, getting a rare
start out of the net took a throw in
to John Watson who then passed
the ball into the 18 -yard box where
Joe Martens faked a shot and Aaron
Weston one timed it into the net.
An insurance goal was barely
missed later as Chuck Walker hit
the post.
Although Nairn had a couple of
good scoring chances strong de-
fensive play by Pat Donnelly and
John Flanagan helped goalie Craig
Winbow earn the shutout.
Fury drop two games
PETROLIA - The Exeter Fury
were in action twice last week com-
ing away with losses to Petrolia and
Delhi.
Wednesday in Petrolia, the Fury
played a Second Division Cup
semi-final losing 2-1. Exeter domi-
nated the first half controlling the
ball and gaining many scoring
chances.
Dan Martens opened the scoring
as his well-placed shot off the post
froze the goalie. The second half
saw Exeter trying to hold on to
their slim lead while attempting to
get an insurance goal. About ten
minutes from the end, Petrolia's
goalie was given a red card leaving
the team with ten players. This
seemed to motivate the home team
as they stormed the Fury net scor-
ing twice in the last five minutes to
steal the win.
The Fury fared no better on Sun-
day as they travelled to Delhi to
take on the Royals. A goal in the
first couple of minutes by the Fury
was called back due to a questiona-
ble offside call. The call by the ref-
eree stole the momentum from the
team and the Fury never did recov-
er until three goals had been scored
against them.
Henri DeBruyn then added a goal
to make the final score 3-1. The
Fury are currently in a sixth-place
tie with a 3-5-2 record for eight
points.

A well prepared resume will help you
get the job you are looking for!
\
A resume detailing an applicant's work history and
education is extremely helpful to an employer who
is seeking a person for a specific job vacancy.
Your personal resume should accompany
your letter of application.
Here are some guidelines to follow in preparing your resume:
❑ Make it clear, concise and easy to read - and no longer
than two pages
0 The resume should be typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper
with enough white space to prevent a cluttered look
0 Start with your name, address and phone number
0 Next under a sub -heading "Work History" detail the
previousobs you've held - in reverse date order
- that is, last job first.
0 Use a separate paragraph for each position and
, precede it with the dates you held that position.
0 State the job title, a brief description of the
responsibilities - and the results you achieved.
Ll The next section of your resume should come under the
sub -heading of "Education". Start with the highest
degree obtained or grade completed, followed by the
name of the institution at which you studied. Follow
this with previous education attainments. At the end,
list any specific instructional courses you have
attended in conjunction with your work.
0 Under the sub -heading "Affiliations", list memberships
and/or offices held in professional or industry
associations.
0 Under the sub -heading "Personal Interests" list any
activities which you feel will be of interest to the
employer - such as volunteer work, etc.
Your letter of application and your resume will be the
factors that make the employer decide whether to short
list you for an Interview. So make it as Impressive
as you can - but stick to the facts.

professional -looking resume
