Gani Lazaro of ficiating at the Exeter United Church. Parents of the bride are Ken and Pat Perger of London and Bob and Nancy Brown of Zurich. Parents of the groom are. Rick and Carol Borden of Exeter and Bill and Joan Hoffman of Dashwood. Standing by their sides were: Maid of honour, Kathy Mern- er, best man, Tim Moore. Bridesmaids were Becky Brown, Amanda Perger, Jes-. sica Brown, Cathi Overholt, Marlene Pino. Groomsmen were Randy Hoffman, Terry Hoffman, Brad Brown, Donnie Parsons, Scott Heywood, Jeff Kints and Brent McDonald. The newlyweds enjoyed a two week honeymoon in Aruba and are now residing in their new home in Exeter (Melrose Place). Thanks to everyone again for making their day so very special. MEM Zurich Community Yard Sale At left, Keith Semple had boxing gloves and many other items for sale at the First Annual Zurich Community Yard Sale held Saturday. At right, hundreds of peo- ple came to Zurich on Saturday, not for the annual Bean Festival but rather for the First Annual Community Yard Sale. Here, buyers and sellers examine some of the goods in the arena. , Radley - Miller Raquel Louise, daughter of Judge Ronald and Miriam Radley, Toronto and Jeffrey Wayne, son of Earl and Mar- ilyn Miller, Woodham were united in marriage on Sat- urday, June 11, 1994 at Spring Garden Baptist Church, North York with Rev. David Collins officiating. The bride was attended by matron of honour Adele Robinson, friend of the bride, and bridesmaids Julie Seath, friend of the bride, Lori Miller, sister of the groom and Mon- ica Radley, sister-in-law of the bride, Best man was Roland Wagg, friend of the groom and ushers were Larry Miller, brother of the groom, Murray Rundle, cousin of the groom and Paul Lavergne, friend of the groom. Music was pro- vided by Yardley Ensembles and soloist Hiram Joseph. The reception was held at the Vaughan Estate, Toronto with Scott Radley, brother of the bride as master of cer- emonies and Bruce Tournay as pianist. Following a hon- eymoon in St. Lucia the couple are residing in Pick- ering. Friedsburg Days 1994 results DASHWOOD - Bingo on Friday evening was at- tended by 1 1 1 people at 7:00 p.m. in the Dashwood Community Centre. Four lucky winners split the jack pot. On Saturday evening 68 youth attended a dance from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the Community Centre. There were three types of dancers performing during the weekend. Carry On Cloggers from Clinton and arca were in the Community Centre entertaining folks who were enjoying their pie or baked goodies in thc tea room. The Linc Dancers from several groups ranging from London, Kitchener, Dashwood and even Michigan en- tertained the crowd under the pavilion Saturday after- noon and again Saturday evening; to kick off the dance at 8:00 p.m. And in keeping with the German festivities the Kitchener Rhine Danube Dancers entertained several times throughout the day, inviting on -lookers to take part young and Old. Sunday, July 31 was wrapped up by a Community church service and breakfast following. The beautiful oil painting donated by artist Teresa Jeromkin of Grand Bend was won by Ron and RuthAnn Merrier of Dashwood. Youth (11-16): Erik Sorensen; Sara Store and Steph- anie M. - Dashwood Family Store. Youngest actual participant: Colton Becker (2 months), son of Dan and Wendy Becker, Dashwood. Ladies chainsaw Val Marshall, 17.98 seconds; Eleanor Weigand, 19.39 seconds. Cross cut Ray Webb and Vern Sorensen, 23.46 seconds; Paul Watson and Ted Hayward, 27.78 seconds. Eleanor Weigand and Judy Crown were the only la- dies who wanted to crosscut so they went against thc men and finished a respectable third with a time of 27.83 seconds out of seven entries. Dan Matthys of London edged John Mason of Dash- wood 14.09 seconds to 14.11 seconds to win the Husq- varna 41 chainsaw in the beat the clock contest out of 19 contestants. John Mason was last year's winner of a new chainsaw. Watch the paper for details of a format change for next year's competition. Tug-of-war Men's competition consisted of four local teams in a double round-robin competition, each team pulling each other team twice. Officiating was done by Tom Kemple and Malcolm Monteith, both from the Ontario Tug -of -War Associa- tion of Guelph. Linesmen were Filter Datars and Ray Webb. MewMcCann's Redi-Mix, Parkhill, 5 wins, 1 loss; 14th Sodbusters, Dashwood, 4 wins, 2 losses; The Pio- neers, Dashwood, ‘3 wins, 3 losses; La Tuggers, Hen - sail, 0 wins, 6 losses. Women: Throw Together, Dashwood. Children: Junior Tuggers, Dashwood. Farmer's Walk The first annual competition was organized by Rob Hoffman. Competitors are required to pick up a known weight in each hand and carry it as far as possible around two markers spaced 50 feet apart. For the men's division, the weights were 205 lbs. per side for a total weight of 410 pounds. in the women's division, the amount was 85 lbs. per side for a total of 170 lbs. Men: Jamie Oke, 92 feet; Don Thomas, 78 feet; Rob Hoffman, 48 feet. Women: Jan Hayward, 496 feet; Brenda Bennewies, 351 feet; Marion Leyten, 292 feet.
