Black Sox win Crediton tournament
CREDITON - It was a long, long
day for the London Black Sox as
they won the annual Crediton men's
fastball league tournament on the
weekend.
They played five times on Sun-
day, including back-to-back cham-
pionship games against Coops from
Seaford' to win the 2I -team event
and take home the top prize of
S1,000.
Coops went into the final un-
defed which` meant the MailsS6x liar! to bcat them twice to win.
Just before the hack -to -back games.
the Black Sox eliminated the Ship -
k8 Rookies 15-3 in the semi-finals.
The Rookies, a. member of the
Crediton league, were the only
team to beat the Black Sox through-
out the weekend, a slim 2-1 de-
cision.
Shipka started with a 13-2 win
over Toohey Tigers, beat the Easy
Riders 15-4, beat the Braves, also
of the Crediton league, 9-4, then
lost to Coops 7-3 before heading
into the semi-finals.
The three-day tournament, played
on the diamonds in Dashwood,
Centralia and Crediton featured a
home run hitting contest which was
H on by Rick Evans of Thedford.
Darren Smith of the Black Sox
and Todd Laporte of the Zurich Ea-
gles tied for second place.

Shlpka Rookies finished third
the tournament. Here they congratulate the Black Sox.
