Lambton Home Maintenance
program upgraded
LAMBTON - Lamhton Elderly
Outreach is proud to announce our
upgraded Home Maintenance Pro-
gram to rural Lambton this sum-
mer. The program is designed to as-
sist clients to remain in their homes
by completing required mainte-
nance tasks which they are unable
to perform for themselves.
Individuals from across Lamhton
County will he matched to area sen-
iors needing grass cutting, garden-
ing, window cleaning, or other odd
jobs completed. Clients must meet
LEO criteria for service (60+ or
18+ with a disability) and workers
will be subject to an interview pro-
cess and reference checks. During
the summer months a special effort
will he made to recruit students.
This will provide a much needed
employment opportunity as well as
strengthening the ties between area
seniors and students.
A study, completed in the sum-
mer of 1994. showed that many of
the residents of the rural areas feel
that difficulties with home mainte-
nance is one of the main reasons
for leaving their homes. Assistance
with many day to day activities
means they can stay in their own
homes longer.
Using funding from the United
Way and the Trillium Foundation
two University students, Matthew
Maruscak and Kelly Wilson were
hired to co-ordinate the program.
In order to launch the program we
are in need of both clients and
workers. If you are interested in
helping or know of anyone who
would benefit from the service
please contact Lambton Elderly
Outreach at 882-1068 or toll free 1-

tion.

A well prepared resume will help you
get the job you are looking, for!
A resume detailing an applicant's work history and
education is extremely helpful to an employer who
is seeking a person for a specific job vacancy.
Your personal resume should accompany
your letter of application.
Here are some guidelines to follow in preparing your resume:
O Make it clear, concise and easy to read - and no longer
than two pages
O The resume should be typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white pap,.•r
with enough white space to prevent a cluttered look
O Start with your name, address and phone number
❑ Next under a sub -heading "Work History" detail the
previous jobs you've held - in reverse date order
- that is, last job first.
O Use a separate paragraph for each position pr.J.
precede it with the dates you held than, position.
O State the job title, a brief des.;ription of the
responsibilities - and the results you achieved.
O The next section of your resume should come under the
sub -heading of "Education". Start with the highest
degree obtained or grade completed, followed by the
name of the institution at which you studied. Follow
this with previous education attainments. At the end,
list any specific instructional courses you have
attended in conjunction with your work.
O Under the sub -heading Affiliations". list memberships
and/or offices held in professional or industry
associations.
O Under the sub -heading "Pcrsonal Interests" list any
activities which you feel will be of interest to the
employer - such as volunteer work, etc.
Your letter of application and your resume will be the
factors that maks the employer decide whether to short
Hst you for an Interview. So make It as impressive
as you can - but stick to the facts.
