The most popular amuse-
ment of the day was the
chance to soak Principal
Rob Snell in the infamous
dunk -tank. The successful
day was organized by Ste-
phen Central's Parent Ad-
visory Council and staff
members.
Saintsbury woman celebrates 90104us.

ored Sunday.

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
Parish Hall was decorated on Sun-
day with flowers, balloons and
streamers when the family of Mary
Davis held an open house to honor
their mother's 90th birthday. Janett,
Hugh and Alexia welcomed the vis-
itors. Great-granddaughter Court-
ney MacGillivray attended the
guest book where 150 relatives,
friends and neighbors registered.
Melba England, a longtime
friend, performed a sdo "Mary is a
grand old name" with everyone
joining in on the chorus.

There was no service at St. Pat-
rick's on Sunday. Rev. Stanley Jay
will be officiant for the Holy Eu-
charist on Sunday, June 23, at
10:30 a.m.
Crystal Davis visited Quebec last
week with her grade eight class of
Usborne Central School. •
Nancy Simpson graduated from
the University of Guelph June 7
with a Bachelor of Science in Agri-
culture and a degree in Animal Sci-
ences. She is the daughter of Ralph
and Joyce Simpson of London.
Several families from St. Pat-
rick's held Father's Day celebra-
tions on Sunday.
Courtney MacGillivray visited a
few days this past week with
grandparents Hugh and Hazel.
Harley Davis won first place in
the 60 cc at Big Core Moto Cross
Raceway at Brampton on Sunday.
Cromarty children conduct church service

STAFFA - It was "wrap up" Sun-
day for the Sunday School children
of Cromarty Presbyterian Church
on June 16. Heather Kerslake gave
the call to worship followed by the
hymn "Part of the Family" and a
prayer.
The children sang "Jesus is
Alive" and Cassandra Parsons led
in the responsive readin*.'
Everyone joined ` is singing
'Praise Him' followed by Tessa
Dill giving the New Testament les-
son. Following the announcements
Tessa Dill and Cassandra Parsons
received the offering which was
dedicated by Dan Berens.
The primary class, whose teach-
ers are Peggy Kerslake and Mary
Jane Parsons, gave the Litany of
Thanksgiving and Intercession.
The service closed with the singing
of "Lead on Lord" and "This Little
Candle Light of Mine", by the chil-
dren followed by the benedictioif
by Rev. Kevin Steeper.
Everyone was invited outside for
a barbecue and fellowship.
Rev. and Mrs. Steeper have a
baby girl, Martha Kathleen, born
June 13.

among family and friends attending
the 40th wedding anniversary of
Bob and Margaret Hulley, at the
home of Eb and Sandra Robinson

Five confirmed at Varna -Goshen
The Sunday service
included Communion.

VARNA Varna -Goshen church
service last Sunday was led by Rev.
Willi Zeigler. Holy Communion
was held along with the confirma-
tion of. five young people. Mar-
yanne:Hayter, Adam Keys, Leanne
Keys,' (farcy Rathwell, and Cara
Stephenson were confirmed. F.dyth
Swan, Joyce Wilson and Art Ben-
nett lad the confirmation classes for
these youth.
Theft will be no church services
for Jut c 23 and 30. July 7 the ser-
vice Will be in Varna with the new
minister Rev. Tracy Crick. Church
will begin at 11 a.m. Take note of
the new time. A congregational.
meeting will follow the service and
a potluck lunch will be served in
the Sunday School room after the
meeting.
Daily Vacation Bible School
forms are available and should be
returned to Willi Laurie as soon as
possible. Brucefield, Kippen, Var-
na, Goshen Bible School will be
from August 2 to 6.
A Community bridal shower was
held for Linda Webster June 11.
Leisa Stephenson welcomed every-
one and Stacey and Kelly Consitt
did a musical number from Pino-
chio.
Alicia, Jaimie and Kristen Dow -
son sang "This Little Light of
Mine" and 'The Magic Penny"
while Grandma Joyce Dowson
played the piano.
A cake quiz was done by all.
Joyce Dowson gave a reading enti-
tled "Ilse First Cake". Stacey, Kel-
ly and Kimberly Dowson then sang
"Open Up Your Heart". Everyone
got up for some exercises and did
tits Macerema. Leisa Stephenson
read an address to Linda. The gifts
were then opened and Linda Web-
ster thanked everyone.
She will be married to David Ju-
niper on July 6 in Waterloo. She is
vice principal at Waterloo Colle-
giate High School.
There will be an Old Fashioned
Strawberry Social on Sunday, June
23 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Magnolia Manor Bed and Break-
fast, formerly known as the Histor-
ic Moffat Estate on County Road
#3 east of Varna. Tickets are $4 in
advance and $5 at the gate. This in-
cludes strawberry shortcake and a
beverage. Also included will be
live entertainment, a fortune teller,
an art exhibit featuring Goderich
artist Gwen Kiar, children's games
and swimming. Huron Centennial
School will be selling hotdogs. The
Plantation Gift Shop will be open
for browsing. For tickets call 233-

Happy 35th anniversary wishes
to Ron and Marion Coleman on
June 17 and happy 45th anniver-
sary wishes to. Ralph and Mona
Stephenson, on June 23.
