Julie Ritchie, Association President said she made throe nominations at the awards banquet and all of them won. Doug Miners, from Kirkton was mimed coach of the year for taking the Exeter Petites to a Hum -Perth Championship and the Huron -Perth "AA" team to silverprovincials. President Marlene Bell welcomed everyone before handiirg the meet- ing over to Helen McKay for the worship service. Dorothy Taylor was pianist for the everting. The :+all call was answered by telling the month of your birthday, fol- lowed by singing "Happy Birth- day" to Ge rtie Moir. Dorothy Tay- lor gave a presentation on the history of the Carmel Church from its beginnings at Rodgerville, the building of their new church de- signed by George Durand to the present location after church union in 1925. A shoat business session, regarding fall plans followed and reports were given by Cathy Bell and Marilyn Campbell. If anyone has free time at Hay Days, Dorothy Taylor would appreciate help with the church display. Bell closed the meeting with prayer and Jan Baker and Jackie Taylor hosted a social hour. The Friendship Circle of Hensel! United Church met Monday in the Fellowship Hall and entertained the senior ladies group of the church. Helen MacLean was the chairper. son for the meeting which was about the history of Hensall United Church and after welcoming every- one she opened with a poem enti- tled "We Wait and Worship". Shir- ley McAllister, Shirley Ferguson and Beatrice Richardson acted as hostesses, serving desserts and bey- . Mary. riatnell• was in o(targe of devotions arid Chose as het theme "Seeds of Friendship, Planting and Reaping". The hymn "Work for the Night is Coming" was sung. Psalm '126:25-26 was read by Brintnell and prayer given. The hymn "Jesus Bids Us Shine" closed the devo- tions. Helen MacLean read a very interesting history of the church which was compiled by the late Mabel Shirley for the church's 125 Anniversary in 1973. The roll call was to tell of a per- sonal experience in the church or something they remembered hap- pening over the years. MacLean gave a humorous reading entitled "When Mother Had the Aid". Eve- ryone repeated the Mizpah Bene- diction to close the meeting. A vid- eo was shown by Helen MacLean, "A Promotion of Huron County". United Church Rev. Armen began the worship with the announcements, a tnoment to prepare for worship, the Sanctus and Call to Worship. "God of Grace and Glory" was sung with Douglas Klopp at the organ. The Prayer of Confession was next fol- lowed by words of assurance. Rev. Annen gave a reading from the Old Testament, Genesis 12:1-4. The children's hymn"Keep Your Heart in Tune" was sung followed by the story `Telling God's Time". The New Testament was Matthew 9:9- 13. Rev. Annen's message was 'Testimony of a Tax Collector". Rev. and Mrs. Armen sang a duet "Circuit Riding Preacher". with Isobel Rogerson accompanying on the piano. The offering was taken by Steve Corbett and Jeff Butson. Prayer of Dedication followed, "Oh, Jesus Christ Grow Thrdugh Me" was sung followed by Com- missioning and Benediction. The Official Board will meet June 19. Due to lack of participation there will be no Sunday School or Nur- sery School in July and August. The United Church wishes to thank Pam Mallette for her Youth Group dedication. If you would be interested in Youth Group, contact Pastor Armen. The Church Picnic and Outdoor Service will be held on June 23 at 10 a.m. between the church and the manse. Promotion for Sunday School will take place and lunch and beverage will be provided. The Hensel! Economic Develop- ment committee's Annual Photo Contest was very successful again this year. Many beautiful photos were submitted in each of the three categories.
