Guest speaker was Barbara Hicks of Clinton, who is a Director and great worker for Camp Menese- tung. Her topic was "Why Jesus never experienced burnout." Scrip- tures from John 5:19, 12:49 and 17:20-26 were read by Edna Frampton. The choir offering was "Lead me Lord" with a special musical duet "Trees" (Rasbach) played by Nmrm Abbot on cello and Lynn Tremain at the piano. U.C.W. president Evelyn John- son chaired the .service and Joan Eagleson closed with prayer. The youth group of Grand Bend United Church has adopted one of the newer cabins at Camp Menese- tung and have spent time and mon- ey to make the cabin more liveable. At the May 19 service at Grand Bend United Church, Rev. R. Put - man's sermon topic was "Hope can outstare despair" with scriptures from Genesis 19:15-26 and I Peter 3:8-17 read by Evelyn McLean. Conversation with the children was on the theme of hope. Choir anthem was "Non Nobis Domine." At the May 26,service at Grand Bend United Church, Rev. R. Put- man talked to the children about the church's birthday. Pani Putman supplied a birthday cake and the children helped blow out the can- dles. The many gifts of Camp Crafts for Huron County Chil- dren's Aid were brought in and piled on the platform. The C.A.S. will offer a Day Camp program to over 200 children this summer. Special music was a solo by Ed- ward Avey, "The Holy City", and a trio of Carey Eddy, Paul Taylor and Don McLean sang "For what earth- ly reason?" Grand Bend Golden Agers held their last euchre of the 1995/96 sea- son on May 22, at the Legion, with nine tables in play. Winners were: ladies high Doreen Finkbeiner; Ladies low - Dina Kelders; Ladies most lone hands, a tie between Al- dene Wolfe, Mary Moser and Madeline Sweitzer; Mens high - Hugh Morenz; Mens low - Harold Finkbeiner; Mens most lone hands, a tie between Mel Norton and Shel- don Wein. The euchres will resume in the fall. Sixteen Zurich area seniors to compete at Tri -County Games ZURICH - There were 16 win- ners from Zurich who will compete in the Tri -County Senior Games on June 17 and 18. The Golden Agers' next meeting will be held June 10, beginning with a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. In appreciation, the guests will be the winners of the Zurich commu- nity games and the participants in the Senior Games in Exeter and area on June 17 and 18. Exeter senior winners to compete at District level EXETER - Winners of the Exeter Community Seniors Games will go on to compete at the District level on June 17 and 18. The games will be hosted by Exeter, Hensel!, Zu- rich, Dashwood, Grand Bend and Grand Cove Estates.
