Adam was involved in athletics for the early part of his years at South Huron. He played midget and junior volleyball and junior basketball. He was also very active in intramural sports. Adam contributed to the extracunicular activities at South Huron by being an active member of the Guidance Support Team and part of the Parent Teacher Student Conunittee. For one year, be was Homeroom Representative for Students' Council. He has attended leadership seminars throughout his years and also was a volunteer junior leader at Camp Sylvan. Adam is renowned for his efforts put forth for various theme dances at South Huron and has been known to transform himself into Popeye and Jimi Hendrix. Adam plans to attend University in the fall to pursue a career in business. He displays his entrepreneurship qualities by operating his own boat washing business. Adam is the son of Roger and Lois Wallis of Grand Bend. • so fi es • �t) • Andrew Hern, son of Leroy and Lynda of Exeter, bas actively enjoyed his five years at South Huron, while maintaining a high academic standard throughout the years. Apart from school, Andrew has advanced to an Assistant Manager at the local McDonald's franchise, giving him an insight on the business world. He also participates in Ontario wide motocross racing events where he is a consistent top three finisher. Hern has played on South Huron volleyball, tennis and badminton teams. His greatest achievement came when he and his partner eared a WOSSA berth in badminton. He also organized the timers and scorers for the 1994/95 basketball season. Andrew also initiated a fan bus trip to see the 1995 OFSAA Field Hockey Championships in Toronto. He has achieved Honour Roll status in each of his five years at South Huron and participated in Science Quest '95. However, his greatest achievement was being elected to Vice -President of the Student Council. This required commitment and hard work. Nevertheless it was one of his most enjoyable and fun -filled experiences. Andrew has been a well rounded student and hopes to attend Sir Wilfrid Laurier University for a degree in Business Administration. ' • fl • Adam Jean takes pride in a high academic standing while balancing his many other activities. As an athlete, Jean has played basketball, hockey, five years of volleyball, and five years of soccer. These have included four Huron -Perth championships, A WOSSA berth and numerous awards, including recipient of the Paw award the past two years far.,„ A: s; most altstandjng orntributor.•Hhhas al#aogattribtisedtt v,., athletics as a member, and executive Member of the athletic'� council and he assisted the Junior boys to a Huron -Perth championship last year. In addition to athletics, Jean has been a member of they' guidance support team for two years, helping grade nines adjust to high school life. He also joined the Sexual Assault Committee this year, has been a student council rep, and perhaps his largest centribution, president of Student's Council this year. He works hard at these and takes satisfaction helping others while improving school atmosphere. Adam has maintained a high academic standing and has been on the honour roll every year of his high school career. He recently received an Excellence in Education award, and was chosen as valedictorian for the graduating class. He is planning on continuing his education at U.W.O. or Queen's University next year. He is the son of Jim and Beth Jean of Grand Bend. Anita Wein has been involved in many aspects of the adwol community throughout her high school career. She was on the basketball team for two years and the badminton team for four. She has also helped with basketball and badminton tournaments. In grade tea Anita was selected as the school representative to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. Since that time Anita has taken a very active role in HOBY to help bring leadership skills to others. She has ran and helped with three seminars in Huron County helping to bring HOBY to many students from the five Huron county schools. She has also been the Vice President of HOBY this past year. Within the school Anita has also served on the Guidance support team for three years and was also a peer tutor for two years. In grade 12 she was a prefect and sbe has finished up her last year at South Huron as the Second Vice President of the Student's Council. She has worked hard at this job throughout the year enjoying it very much. She writes a weekly column for the Times Advocate keeping the community informed of what is happening within the school. While doing all this Anita has been able to maintain honour sanding for all five of ler years at South Huron. Anita has truly enjoyed her time hese at South buron. She hopes to attend University in the fall and is looking forward to a career in medicine. She is the daughter of Barb and Larry Wein of Exeter. Melissa Brock has greatly enjoyed her five years at South Huron having been involved in many aspects of school and community life. She has been a member of the school band, interschool badminton, volleyball and the OFSAA gold medal winning field hockey team. She participated in a student exchange program, spending three months attending school In Germany. As a senior student, Melissa has been involved in peer mentoring, co -chairperson for the OSAID group at the High School and a prefect. She has been a member of the Athletic Council for four years and has worked with Yearbook staff. Her final year at South Huron bas been a very busy one. She has served as Social Convener on this year's Student's Council, chairperson for OSAID, chairperson of the Activities Committee for Peer Mentoring, member of the formal committee in addition to her regular activities and managed to complete six OAC credits as well. Melissa hopes to attend University in the fall to study psychology. She is the daughter of Bill and Janice Brock of Exeter. / Bryan McAllister has been consistently involved in school and attieda and has had a very active and eventful five years at South Hernia. A member of the volleyball, soccer and basketball team for each year be has amended, be was moved up to junior without playing a year of midget in all donee spats. He has been a pan of four teams who have won the Huron -Perth d ionship, two in junior and senior soccer, one in junior basketball and one in senior volleyball respectively. He was also on the Basketball All-Star llum for South Huron over the last two yeas, and this past year he was on the Senior VbUeybdl All-Star team. McAlliser has also been nominated for Athlete of the Year for the past four consecutive yews and was honored with winning the Junior award in 1992193 and the Senior in 1994!95 two ow of those four years nominated. Along with keeping himself occupied with span activities, be is also a member of the school's Sexual Assault Committee and an active member of the Student Council. Acting as the Athletic Council Chairperson at South Huron after bebig a member of the council the previous year. This is where he and his council have held extremely successful intramural sports for the school which have brought out record numbers in snidest participation. He has also been involved in the volunteer coaching of grade school students for South Huron's yearly basketball camp. Although early on in the 1995196 year his cross dressing fetish had been expaedby bis beloved S.C. members at assemblies he has maintained his dignity and achieved average grades tlraughoat his years at South Huron. The last five yen at South Huron have beat most memorable and rewarding for Bryan es he plans to attend Conestoga College to study Graphic Design and Advertising. He is the proud son of Neil and Susan McAllister. Jena Ellison has been involved in a plethora of activities at S.H.D.H.S. Extra -curricular involvement began with a role in the drama department's Showcase '89 (while still an elementary school student). This proved an excellent start with further involvement in Magic Moon, Blood Relations, Bring Back Birdie and the Horseplay. This year, Jean wrote and directed the production of My Life in Ten Years. Following the commitment through as Student co- ordinator of this years peer mentors. Other leadership roles have included being Student Chair of the '94-95 Parent -Teacher -Student Committee and twice a Junior Leader with the Camp Sylvan program. Her interest in the environment extended to helping create last years successful Exeter Ecology Garden. Over the years, Jenny has also flirted with O.S.A.I.D., Yearbook Spirit and debating clubs and Youth for Social Justice of London. She was honored to represent Huron- Bruce at the Forum For Young Canadians this past April in Ottawa. Tlnnughout this activity, Jenny hal maintained a high honours standing for the past four years. Ellison's success at S.H.D.H,S. is a testament to the value of extracurricular activities in secondary schools (this means you John Snobelin) as wen as the number of outstanding teachers, without whom any of these nominations would have been possible. Jenny is the daughter of Mary and Scott Burton of Exeter and Doug and Fran Ellison of Grand Bend. • Jay Schultz has had an active role during his five years at South Huron on social programs, school teams and Student's Council as a Student Trustee. In serving the student body he has been an active participant in the Guidance Support'lam, Peer Mentoring and baa helped many -students with their mathematics while being a Peer Tutor. During his school career he has hada great deal of fun on his five years of noon hour broomball, two years of Reach for the Top and one year on the senior Badminton ham. Most likely Schultz's greatest achievement was his accomplishments as a Student Trustee. Of the group of six student trustees from Huron County he was their Secretary Treasurer. Along with four other student trustees he created, implemented, said gathered feedback to the fust ever Provincial Student Trustee Conference. Finally he is wonting with the other trustees in the creation of a Students Charter of Rights and Responsibilities. Schultz is planning to attend Wilfrid Laurier University.to study Mathematics and eventually become an excellent secondary school mathematics teacher. Jay is the son of Jim and Sherry of Crediton. Kristy Ahrens, also known as "Bibby" has had five fun filled and busy years at South Huron. She is very proud td have been on the field hockey team for five years, winning three Ontario championships. She also volunteered to teach grade,8 students the basics of field hockey. Kristy has also played on the junior and senior badminton teams and for the girls South Huron soccer team. However, beyond the athletic aspect of school, Kristy has been a student council rep, a member of the Spirit Club and a member of O.S.A.I.D. Kristy has also been in peer mentoring for the last three years. She is a member of the Sexual Assault Group and was invited to Toronto to a conference on body images. She took this knowledge back to Huron County and worked with the health unit to try to change people's views on their body images. Kristy's biggest commitment to the school was when she was elected to be on Student Council as secretary. She has worked hard at this job while enjoying it throughout the year. Kristy bas been a well-rounded student throughout her years at South Huron and will be attending Niagara College in August to pursue a career in dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Keith and Dianne Ahrens of Exeter. Lindsay McKay has been involved in, and enjoyed all aspects of student life at South Huron. Throughout her years of high school Lindsay has participated in the Debating Club, Spirit Club, Field Hockey Team, Yearbook, OSAID, Band, Enrichment, Drama productions and for the past three years, the Peet Mentoring Program. In her final year, Lindsay has undertaken bei most exciting challenge yet - being Treasurer of the Students' Council. Academically Lindsay bas always maintained high marks and will graduate with a high honours standing. Next week she will participate in a workshop about Student to Student Sexual Harassment which will be featured on a province wide CD ROM for the Board of Educadon. Recently she was one of five South Huron students to receive an Excellence in Education Award. Lindsay McKay has also been an active member of the Exeter and area community. She helped to establish and maintain the Exeter Ecology Garden, was a member of the Youth for Social Justice Committee of London and for the past two years has served customers, first as an employee at Oscar's Video, and presently at Reel Time Video in Exeter. Lindsay has immensely enjoyed her time at South Huron and plans to attend the University of Toronto in the fall. Her parents are The Rev. Fay Patterson of Exeter and Don McKay of Mississauga. 4 4
