Spaghetti feast
The Charles Henderson Breakfast Club prepared an all -you -can -eat spaghetti and meatball
dinner at Caven Presbyterian Church on May 14. The dinner required 15 boxes of spaghetti
and 600 homemade meatballs. Proceeds went to the church building fund. From left Is Pe-

Hospital Auxiliary raises
$7,700 at rummage sale
EXETER - Thirty members of
the South Huron Hospital Auxiliary
attended a May 14 meeting.
The meeting opened with '0
Canada' and a poem "What Moth-
ers Can Do." Mary Fisher intro-
duced the guest speaker Debbie
Campbell. Her presentation was in
two parts. First she gave an over-
view of the Huron -Perth District
Health Council of which she is the
incoming chairperson. It's mandate
is setting health care priorities,
working with existing services in
planning and making recommenda-
tions to the Ministry of Health.
In the nutrition segment of her
talk she urged the group to become
aware of labelling: to know that
"light" and "lite" do not mean Tess
fat, that "ose" means sugar, that in-
gredients are listed in order of most
to least, and that including of nutri-
tional value is still voluntary. She
was thanked for her presentation
and given a gift.
Donna Paynter, president, presid-
ed for the business portion. One
hundred dollars will be sent to
C.A.H.A. Treasurer Vera Arm-
strong reported $7,700 was raised
at the rummage sale.
Agnes Aunger, Olga Davis and
Alma Langford reported on the
Zone 2 rally recently attended in
Guelph.
The next meeting will be Septem-
ber 10 at 12:30 p.m. beginning with
a potluck luncheon. The meeting
closed with the Auxiliary prayer
and luncheon.
"Hymn-fests"
becoming
traditon
GRAND BEND - Two forthcom-
ing Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
feature congregational hymn -
singing in the sanctuary of Grand
Bend United Church. The fust
takes place on June 9, covering a
spectrum of traditional hymns,
some new songs of faith and a new
setting of "Jesus loves me" ren-
dered by baritone Don McLean and
Grand Bend Choir. Lynn Tremain
and Norm Abbott provide a medley
of sacred tunes for flute and piano.
The second takes place on July
28 following the morning summer
service presentation of "Opera and
Hymnody". The two guest artists
at this hymn -fest are bpera soloists
Adriane Stewart and Silvia Bucha-
nan, both with a strong church mu-
sic tradition; they present solo and
duet selections to complement the
eongregation hymn singing. Norm
Abbott will premiere a "Fantasia on
familiar hymns" for solo cello.
For bother events a collection
will be taken in aid of the Organ
Fund. Welcome to all to that strong
Christian bonding experience -
