Blue Water residents enjoy shopping Mt)
ZURICH - It was off for a 'shop -til -you -drop' for
residents of Blue Water Rest Home as they boarded the
wheelchair bus on Tuesday morning for a day at Ma-
sonville. Esther Makins, Rose Merner, Edna Johnston,
Ruby Fulcher, Ruby Bell, Vera Thiel, Kurt Gebel and
Vivian Frcmlin' with the volunteer help of Margaret
Suplat, Debbie Tyalor, Mary Elelen Gingerich, Angeli-
ka Metzger, Glen Thiel and Cathy Shantaz, Adjuvant
headed out for a day in the city. For many it was a
sight seeing'event, for others it was a chance to have
lunch out and purchase those personal items.
' Wednesday afternoon tea was served in the auditori-
um with fresh flowers and lace cloths.
Rev. Henry Annen, Hensall United church conducted
Thursday afternoon Chapel service. Fr. Matthias
Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated
Mass. Rev. Gani Lazaro, Zurich/Dashwood United
Church conducted Tuesday afternoon Bible Study.
Thursday evening the residents were treated to the
country sounds of Max Ducharme and The Townlin-
ers. Max on violin, Clare Masse on guitar, Doug In-
siey on Hawaiian guitar, Anthony Rau on guitar and
soloist and Joyce Pepper on piano kept the residents
swaying in their seats. They enjoyed such tunes at
"My Wild Irish Rose, Blue Skirt Waltz and the Green
Grass of Home'. Refreshments were served by Cathy,
Aleida Rau and Debbie Taylor.
The residents look forward to the Victoria Day
weekend which brings family members on a weekend
holiday to the home and should they tire the ladies will
be ready for their pyjama party on May 23.
The residents look forward to their annual resident/
family dinner on Sunday, June 23. The Blue Water
Rest Home annual meeting will be held Tuesday, June
11 at 7:30 in the auditorium for all valued members.
The staff are formulating plans for the resident and
staff float for the Hay Days parade on Saturday June
29 at 10:30 a.m.

Lodge donates to charities
EXETER - NG Sis. Mavis Atthill
opened a recent Pride of Huron Re-
bekah Lodge meeting with a poem
about spring entitled "Transforma-
tion". Sis. Doris Denham visited
Sia. Clara Mattis and took her flow-
ers. Sis. Norma Parsons has had a
hip replacement.
The Humanitarian Services Com-
mittee gave donations to Camp
Trillium, eye research and to Aids
for Women and Children. The
club's bake sale netted a profit of
S357.50. Half of the profit will be
ent to Camp Dialysun.
The group received a letter from
the Arthriti Society thanking the
Oddfellows and Rebekahs for their
donations." A total of $41,014 was
received this past year from the
Oddfellows and Rebekahs of Cana-
da. Since 1984, two and a half mil-
lion dollars was received from all
Rebekahs and Oddfellows of North
America, one half million of that
was from Canadian Lodges.
A petition was circulated asking
the Rose Bowl Parade Committee
to not have commercials during the
parade, thus blocking out certain
floats. This year the Oddfellow and
Rebekah float did not appear on
T.V. due to commercials.
Sis. Elaine Skinner reported on a
visit to Victoria Lodge in London
for Musician's Night. She sang
"Family of God". The evening had
a Hawaiian theme. Everyone
dressed Hawaiian and there was a
Hawaiian lunch at the close of the
evening.
Twelve Brothers and Sisters at-
tended the District church service
in Blyth. Rev. Philip Gannon, a for-
mer Anglican minister from Exeter
was the guest speaker that Sunday.
Sis. Bernice Ford gave a report of
Friendship Night in Clinton.
Sis. Ruth Skinner gave a reading
about auctions and Sis. Joyce Mor..
gan entertained with an auction of! -;
articles in paper bags. The group
enjoyed many laughs besides rais-
ing money for the lodge.
The group's next meeting will bei,
their 49th birthday party. Members `
are to bring another Sister or Broth-
er. Hillcrest, St. Marys will be their
guests.
