By Mary Peterson Centralia correspondent CENTRALIA - Friends and rela- tives gathered at Centralia United Church on May 12, Mother's Day and Christian Family Sunday, to celebrate baptism, confirmation and the sacrament of Holy Communion. Donna Smith and Mikayla Skin- ner greeted everyone at, the door and presented the women with car- nations. Ellen Graham and Marjo- rie Johns provided a musical pre- lude to the worship service. The men's choir sang two anthems, in- cluding the lively tune "Count Your Blessings." Pastor Heather Smith baptized her nto' of Centralia United Church. Sarah 1 'utileigh and Gwen Rollings were confirmed as members of Centralia United Church. At Zion West, Alai- n Hern and Paul Mills joined the at rch. /it Centralia, Gwen Rollings read *scripture from 1 Peter 3:13-22. S' Dudleigh gave the gospel ing from John 14:15-21. Jennifer Dudleigh, Sarah's sis- ter, performed a clarinet solo dur- ing the collection of the offering. Following the recitation of a prayer written by Alaina Hern, eve- ryone shared in the sacrament of Communion. Upcoming activities Everyone is reminded that a joint worship service will be held at Thames Road United Church on May 26 with Rev. Grant MacDon- ald as the guest speaker instead of the regular worship. The final choir practice will be held at 7:30 p.m. on May 19 at Thames Road United Church. Pastor Smith will attend London Confer,nce Annual Meet- ing in London at First St. Andrew's United Church from May 24 to 26. Also on May 26, Centralia Unit- ed Church members invite every- one to attend their second annual music night.
