Dance Club has successful showing
EXETER - In its first year of operations, the Exeter
Dance Club, B.A.T.D. has performed remarkably.
Their preparation in The Kiwanis Festival of Stratford
on Friday, April 19, 1996 marked their last competitive
dance performances of the year.
Jay Stone travelled from New York to adjudicate the
dance division. Stone has been a dance adjudicator for
25 years. He has judged for Dance Masters of America,
United States Tournament of Dance, the New York
Talent Showcase, and is an accredited judge for
the Miss America Pageants. The Exeter Dance
Club performances were judged as follows:
86 percent - acro solo - Erin Bowers; 1st 94.5
percent - acro solo - Lisa Johnson. Lisa was specifically
acknowledged by the adjudicator for her outstanding
performance as a young competitor (8 yrs and under),
1st 97.5 percent - acro duet- Katrina Cavaliere and Sa-
rah Trottier; 2nd 88 percent -acro duet - Sarah Johns
and Brooke Ramsay.
3rd - 89 percent - acro trio - Megan Darling, Ashley
Nixon and Chantal Russell; 2nd - 89 percent - acro

HENSALL - At Hensall United
Church the service began with the
sanetus "This is the Day" followed
by the Approach, Lord's Prayer and
the singing of "This is My Father's
World". The Youth Choir sang the
"Butterfly Song". Nancy Young
was in charge of the Campfire Ser-
vice and read from Isaiah 55:10-11.
"Singing Round the Campfire" was
sung. Words of welcome and greet-
ings were followed by the chil-
dren's hymn. The children's story
"A Calendar" was given by Nancy
Young. Prayer of the People fol-
lowed in unison. Betty Jinks sang
"In the Garden" with guitar accom-
paniment. Matthew 13:1-9 was
read followed by the message
"God's Creation" by Rev. Annen.
Joanne Moir and Jean Jacobe took
up the offering. "Praise God From
Whom All Blessing Flow", the
Prayer of Dedication followed and

The Exeter Dance Club, B.A.T.D. is a non-
profit organization which is the home of a com-
petitive dance troupe. Watch for them this summer as
they begin their second year of operations with up-
coming fundraisers, rehearsals and participation in
community events. They'll be the ones flipping burgers
and dancing up a storm! •
Health and safety expo I
planned at Huron Park
HURON PARK - A Health and Safety Expo will be held on Friday,
May 10 at the J.A.D. McCurdy public school auditorium at Huron Park
between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
This expo is sponsored by the "Neighbourhood Watch" organizations in
Crediton, Huron Park and Centralia.
Admission is free, but donations to the area food bank will be gratefully
accepted.
One of the organizers, Brenda Morgan says, "We equally share our con-
cerns for the safety and well being of each other, and their homes. This
Health and Safety Expo is to help everyone find the services of the many
agencies available, and for those they may not be aware of."
The organizations that will be in attendance to explain their services to
protect children include ; Block Parents, Child Find, Drug addiction, Poi-
son control, Kids Help Line, O.S.A.I.D, M.A.D.D., Rural Response for
Healthy children, Safe Homes for Youth and Big Brothers and Sisters.
Help for seniors will be provided by Medic Alert, Cancer Unit, Town
and Country Homemakers, prescription awareness, massage therapist, re-
flexologist, chiropractor, natural foods, etc.
General information will come from St. John's Ambulance, Ontario Pro-
vincial Police, fire department, Optimists, Crime Stoppers, battered wom-
en and security systems.
In conclusion, Morgan said, "We hope that everyone will come out to
learn more about the services and agencies available to us in Huron county
and also enjoy themselves."
Sword dancers
Eddle's Angela take part in a sword dance at the Lions
Youth Centre on April 23 during Town and County Home-
makers' Dining for Seniors outing. The dancers, from Grand
Bend and Exeter, performed long sword dancing and coun-
try dancing "Just to keep folk dancing alive," explained
dancer Biddy Cammack.

was the organist. Nancy Young and
Jennifer Young were the greeters.
A large crowd attended the annu-
al beef dinner.
May 5 is Bible Sunday. Those at-
tending can bring non-perishable
gifts for the Exeter Food Bank.
The Junior Choir meet Wednes-
days after school. The Senior choir
meet Fridays at 7:30 p.m.
The Thursday Afternoon Ladies
meet May 2. The Friendship Circle
meet May 6 at 7:30 p.m. The
speaker will be Bernice Jewson,
talking on Ethiopia. Everyone is
welcome.
The Carmel Presbyterian Church
Anniversary will be held May 12 at
9:45 a.m.
The Hensall Landfill will not be
open on Saturdays, effective May
1. Landfill access will be Wednes-
day afternoons, from 1:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m. and Friday mornings
from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Us-
ers must have a current Hensall
landfill pass for access. These are
available at the Hensall Municipal
Office.
The Hensall Economic Develop-
ment Committee is pleased to an-
nounce the 1996 photo contest cat-
egoria. Submit your photos
depicting: people, landscape/nature
and humor. Entry forms and con-
test rules are available at the Hen-
sall Municipal Office. Photos must\•:-•
be submitted by 5:00 p.m., June 3.
All entries will be on display at the
Hensall Spring Fair June 7 and 8.
Area youth are reminded that
May 1 at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline
for playground application submis-
sions. Candidates selected for inter-
views will be contacted by phone.

The Hensall Parks Board thanks
Hensall Minor Hockey, and John
Munn fon their recent donations to-
ward the Board's fundraising cam-
paign. Donations will be used to-
ward the purchase of a self-
propelled ice resurfacer for the
Hensall arena. Individuals and/or
groups wishing to contribute to this
project should contact Tom Dick-

Residents enjoy Earth Day
ZURICH - The residents of Blue
Water Rest Home postponed "Earth
Day" from April 22 to 29 due to
Avida Fashions arriving to display
their spring uniforms for the staff in
the auditorium. Staff members
found new colors and new styles
for their spring wardrobe. April 29
the residents gathered in the audi-
torium to transplant seedlings in
preparation for the spring flow-
erbed planting. Most were able to
play in the dirt once again.
Bible Study
Bible Study was held by Winnie
Hutton and Julia Bender on Tues-
day afternoon in the chapel. In the
evening members of the Lakeview
Conservative Mennonite Church,
St. Joseph visited the home for the
singing of hymns. "What a Friend
We Have in Jesus, There is a Name
I Love to Hear, On a Hill Far
Away" and "I Am Thine, Oh Lord"
were just a few of the many hymns.
Some members of the church
helped serve cookies and refresh-
ments, while others socialized with

Rhythm band
Friday afternoon it was rhythm
band time in the auditorium and af-
ter a few months of practice the
residents have everything down pat
and everyone has their hands and
arms in coordination to the beat to
make angelic sounds.

mer who was visiting South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
The residents are enjoying large

for the residents to enjoy.
