Jerome Joseph Ducharme - for official
certification only but known by many other
names by many different people, he was
Jerome, ler, Uncle Jerome, Grandpa, Dad and
Fuzz. Jerome had many passions in life and
each of these passions was able to touch the
hearts of many people because each became an
extended family for him.
We all know of his passion for work - his
job and the people involved with his job were
very important to him. he was always a Co -Op
man, from career beginning to end. he was the
typical example of the ladder climb to a
success plateau that satisfied all of his passion's
needs. At work, he felt moat comfortable with
all the employees as a co-worker, a Fuzz, rather
than as a taskmaster. Thereiwas a two -,way
respect with him that vel
iv'it!) ebel%one that cA to cottac ynth
that was probably the reason he purposely
dressed in ihie Co -Op colors each day, he
wanted to show that he was no different or
better than any other. His office door was never
closed to anyone at anytime and each employee. customer, contractor or agent knew this
and was very comfortable with it. Although a very busy man. Jerome always found time
to play a practical joke on an innocent office lady or one of the guys who at the time
seemed ripe for the picking. He had an uncanny ability to "lie" to yoe so that he could
then sit back and enjoy first-hand your reaction all the while wearing that "I gotcha"
smirk on his face. To this extended family Jerome says be proud of what you do and
keep up the good work. •
Another of Jerome's passions was a recent one, line -dancing. Helene was involved
for more than a year and Jerome as a bystander with a movie -camera would be there to
video the group for later viewing and critiquing. Then one day he decided that he was
ready to give it a try - well the rest is history, he became so involved that often Helene
would have to send him with one of her sisters as a partner because her feet could not go
as often each week as his. Needless to say that didn't bother him and phone calls were
made to his sisters-in-law until success was reached. Let us not forget that spare time
and off -nights meant that the garage became a great practice area for any who wanted
because he was always ready. To this extended family Jerome says thanks for all the
good times and for being such great people.
A most important of Jerome's passions was his family. For him that meant a great
number of people and a wide range of needs. Each family member, through birth or
marriage was always acknowledged and welcomed into their home. He and Helene
knew how to care for people and were never afraid to show it. After their marriage they
each had two moms and two dads, showing that sharing meant sharing everything, -
together they grieved the loss of three of these parents and re -channeled much of their
love and energy to the mom they both had remaining. With Jerome, if you needed help
he was always there, if you needed advice or guidance you only had to ask, his brothers
(in-law) and sisters(in-law) were always aware of that. One could feel the love that these
two had, from the beautiful home that they shared, to the many hearts that they touched,
to the legacy of four beautiful children and four equally beautiful grandchildren that they
have left us all. Each child in his/her own way was special and unique in that family
from Lori, the oldest, who was rocked and held hours on end by mom and dad just
because they loved her so much, to Tracy, whose heart is so filled with family love that
this part of her Dad will live forever, to Mary, the spokesperson, who as a child was the
family entertainer with an endless litany of stories and jokes for anyone who came over
and Rob, the son of the family, the little brother who everyone is so proud of, grew up in
a household where he thought family meant having sisters only and lots of lots of uncles
and aunts. To his family. Jerome (Dad) says thank -you for each choosing the perfect
mate. keep the faith and continue to love and take care of each other.
And to the most important passion in Jerome's Life - Helene. Helene was not only
his wife, his lover, the mother of their children, she was his best friend Their marriage
exemplified what sharing meant - they had enough love between them to give to
community organizations, co-workers, friends and still had lots left over for family and
each other. They loved to do many things because they loved to do them together. Their
love was always strong but seemed to grow even stronger with yeah because they both
had a very strong belief in the Church and all its teachings. Their lives, their decisions,
and their day -to day routines all had religion es a focal point - it was always evident but
never over -bearing. To you Helene, Jer says i will always love you and always take care
of you - be strong and take care of our kids and give thanks to God.
To all who showed their love and respect Jet says very simply thank -you and has to
turn away because his modesty says that it's too much. To you Jer, we thank you for
helping each of us and we will all miss you in our own personal way and you will be in
our hearts forever.
