CLINTON - The Huron Commu-
nity Food Advisor Coordinating
Committee is pleased to announce
113 volunteers have successfully
completed the training program and
been certified as Community Food
Advisors.

Advisor volunteers is food! These
volunteers are available to help
raise awareness and provide infor-
mation on food to local groups at
fall fairs, special events and com-
munity meetings in Huron County.

sical tribute American
Pop last week. The pro-
gram performed last
Wednesday to Friday
nights featured popular
music of the 1950s,
'60s, '70s and '80s as
well as contemporary
pop and rock. Students
from grades five to eight
performed hits that once
dominated the music
charts.

ZURICH - The St. Boniface Mu-
sical program "American Pop" held
last Wednesday to Friday nights
was a big success, performed by
students from grades five to eight.
Directors Teresa VanRaay,
Dianne Miller, Lori Masse and Har-
riet VanderBurgt were presented
with flowers as a token of apprecia-
tion.

Optimist Club
Several people attended the Opti-
mist
Club Bingo at the arena on
Saturday night. Lucky winner of
the jackpot was from Goderich.
The next Zurich Optimist Club
meeting will be on May 8 at the
Township Hall at 6:45 p.m. John
Gray will speak on Community
Living in Exeter. President of the
club is Diane Wilds. Everyone is
welcome.
Mother's Day tea
The annual Mother's Day tea, ba-
zaar and bake sale will be held at
the Blue Water Rest Home on May
11 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The resi-
dents are busy getting things ready
to soil. Anyone interested in setting
up a craft table at no charge are to
phone Auxiliary president Donna
Klopp at 236-4675.
Planta tree
Area residents can commemorate
the Hay Days '96 and Land Week
by planting a tree with their family
this Sunday, April 28 from 2 to 4
p.m. at the Hay Township Ball Dia-
mond on East Street in Zurich.
The Ausable-Bayfield Conserva
tion Authority, Groot Tree Farm
Stewart Webb Landscaping and
Lakewood Nursery are sponsoring
the planting of 25 trees. Bring a
!hovel, and a mug for refresh-
ments. There is no admission.
Bowling tournament
The Hay Days bowling tourna-
ment will be taking place at the
Town and Country Lanes this Sun-
day, April 28, beginning at 11:00
a.m. For more information or to

Fair board meeting
The Agricultural Society Fair
Board meeting will be held this
Wednesday, April 24 at 8 p.m. at
the Hay Township hall.
Athletic Association
The Minor Athletic Association
had a get-together at the Zurich
Arena on Sunday afternoon with a
presentation of awards tb the
teams. The new president is Steve
Haberer, along with his committee
of volunteer parents.

The end -of -the -season volleyball
banquet was held at the arena on
April 13. The new executive for
next year will be Steve and Janet
Durand's team, the Blue Water
Divers.
Girl's Club
The Girl's Club will be having
their next meeting at the Mennon-
ite Fellowship Hall this Thursday,
April 25 at 7:30 p.m. It will be a
spring craft night and they are re-
minded to bring along the frog pat-
terns they made, ready to be
stuffed.
Musical afternoon
On Sunday, April 28 the South
Huron High School Band and the
Legion Community Band will per-
form a joint concert at the Legion
in Exeter at 2 p.m.Admission is a
canned food donation.

Welcome back home to Earl and
Doreen Desch and Abbey, who
were away for the winter months in
Florida; and to Malinda Gingerich
who is staying with her daughter
and family in Hensall.
Todd Stephan and Wendy Over-
holt were married last weekend at
the United Church in Hensall. A
dinner was held on April 14 at the
home of his parents Jack and
Sandy Stephan. Wendy is the
daughter of Wayne and Sharon
Overholt of RR 2, Zurich.
Sue Markson returned to Vernon,
B.C. on Friday after spending the
past two weeks visiting her mother,
Helen Walker, and her brother.
Kevin and Shelley Geoffrey cele-
brated their seventh anniversary on
April 15.
Happy birthday wishes go to
Diane Klopp on April 21; Lylyan
Greb and Norma Siebert recently;
20 -year-old Shawn Laporte; and
Hilda Vanderhoek at Easter.
April 12 was Chantell Rowan's
first birthday. It was a very special
occasion which lasted for two days
with over 50 relatives and friends
attending. She received many beau-
tiful gifts. Her most fun was mak-
ing a big mess of her cakes and
herself.

municipalities are meeting on an ongoing basis to
determine the feasibility of amalgamating the four
municipalities Into a single municipal corporation.
These meetings are open to the public. Any group
or individual that would like to make a presentation
to the committee, should contact Larry Brown

ard and Liam Brennan who were
married April 4 at Club Antigua in
Antigua. The bride is the daughter
of Peter and Theresa Bedard, Hen-
sall. Their parents and several
friends and relatives attended the
wedding. The couple are now liv-
ing in Exeter.
