Watch for
seed size
CLINTON - Due to growing con-
ditions and other factors, seed size
can vary by 30 per cent.
According to Rob Templeman,
Perth soils and crops advisor for the
Ontario Minsitry of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs, it is impor-
tant to conduct a seed count or look
for seed size information on seed
tags.
Actual seed counts are needed as
we move towards more precise
seeding," he explained.
According to Templeman, the
seeds per kilogram guide provided
by the Ontario Oil and Protein Seed
Crop Committee variety trial re-
ports is an estimate based on a
three-year average of data from var-
ious variety -testing locations.
