ZURICH - Monday afternoon the
residents of Blue Water Rest Home
gathered in the auditorium to watch
"Strangers in Paradise," a National
Geographic video about the Hawai-
ian Islands. The recent snow falls
have made them all yearn for a
warm southern island.
Cathy Shantz, Adjuvant served
Wednesday afternoon tea in the au-
ditorium with the tables decorated
with lace tablecloths and Easter lil-
ies.
Leslie Lewis, an associate of
Rev. Peter Baldwin, St. Peter's An-
glican Church, Goderich conducted
Thursday afternoon chapel service.
Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface
Church, Zurich celebrated Mass.
The residents look forward to
Geri Fashions and the Christian Re-
formed Church members' visit on
April 14, Gladys and The Merry
Makers, April 17 and their monthly
birthday party with Goshen United
Church members on April 18.
Workshops
discussed
HENSALL - Queensway's Vol-
unteer Auxiliary met. Monday
morning. Some upcoming work-
shops were discussed. Some volun-
teers may be attending a seminar in
Seaforth on Spiritual Caregiving
April 18.
Hensall Presbyterian women pro-
vided assistance and prizes at bingo
on Monday afternoon.
The scheduled minister was un-
able to come on Tuesday due to ill-
ness, so staff and residents held a
service with a co-operative spirit of
scripture reading, hymn singing
and an article from Guideposts
magazine. Volunteer Marg Cole as-
sisted.
The Exeter Christian Reformed
Singers led an evening of Easter
hymn singing Tuesday.
Breakfast Club met Wednesday
morning over peameal bacon and
pancakes with syrup. Wednesday
afternoon several residents benefit-
ted from aromatherapy and mas-
sage. Those residents unable to ak-

Hughie McEwen entertained resi-
dents and dining guests Thursday
evening with their Country and
Western music. Residents especial-

Lightning causes damage to St. Patrick's spire

GRANTON - A fire caused by
lightning did considerable damage
to the spire of St. Patrick's Catholic
Church near Lucan on Friday night.

Jean Noon entertained at a family
gathering on Easter Sunday. Kris-
ten and Melissa Noon of St. Marys
spent a couple of days on the week-
end with their grandmother Jean.
Leroy and April Bryan enjoyed a
recent vacation in Florida.
Muriel Lewis spent the Easter
weekend in New York City.

went to the Perth Deanery A.C.W.
meeting at St. James Anglican
Church, Stratford on Tuesday eve-
ning, April 9. Following a dessert
tea, Archdeacon John Spencer cele-
brated the Holy Eucharist. Guest
speaker Laurie Richardson, a.mem-
ber of that church gave a presenta-
tion of her needlework and artistry
involved in making an altar cover,
wall hanging and vestments which
she had beencommissioned to do.

meeting.

At St. Paul's Anglican . Church,
Kirkton on Sunday, April 14 the
Rev. Timothy Connor celebrated
the Eucharist and his message was
about Thomas, who doubted that
the other disciples had really seen
Jesus.
The sanctuary lamp from St.
Thomas' Anglican Church, Gran-
ton which was dedicated in 1966 to
the Glory of God and in loving
memory of Selina Victoria (Beat -
son) Bryan (mother of Muriel Lew-
is), given by her grandson Larry
Clarence Lewis, has been installed
and now hangs In St. Paul's Angli-
can Church in Kirkton and was re-
dedicated by Rev. Timothy Con-
nor. The lessons were read by Rob-
ert Parkinson and Norma Paul.
Attending from the former St.
Thomas church were JilizabetisPit-
kinson and son Robed and Muriel
Lewis.
A time of fellowship followed
the service.
An announcement was made that
the Reverend Glenda Meakin,
Chaplain of Bishop Strachan
School in Toronto and Honorary
Assistant at St. James Church in
Stratford has been appointed to St.
Paul's Church in Kirkton and St.
James Church.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, April 14, Pastor Normalie
Voakes entitled her sermon `Be-
yond a Doubt' based on the lessons
from Acts 2, I Peter 1 and John 2.

Meredith Ross, daughter of Mel-
anie (Robinson) and Mike Todd of
Granton and Brandon James and
Michael Alexander, sons of Jane
(Ivey) and Jim Oliver of St. Marys
were welcomed into the church
through baptism. Kaylee Laramie,
cousin of the Olivet boys, and An-
drew Bryan helped prepare the
font.
Flowers were placed in the
church sanctuary on Easter Sunday
in memory of Florence Riddell by
her family.

The general U.C.W. quarterly
meeting was held at the Granton
United Church on Tuesday eve-
ning, April 9, beginning with a
lunch of hot cross buns, cheese and
beverage served by Unit one mem-
bers. They also presented the pro-
gram, a skit entitled 'How many
stones does it take' with Cathie
Westman, Carlene Goos and Ame-
lia Jameson taking part. Audrey
Westman read a child's letter to
God and Doreen McRobert led in
prayer.

nied by Normalie Voakes in prep-
aration for the Regional Rally at
Brown's Church on April 24.
President Doreen McRobert led
the business and told of a project
which the Sunday School could
take up involving collecting Camp-
bell soup labels to help the blind in
third world countries. The U.C.W.
also gave a gift donation to help a
local fire victim. The Westminster
weekend was announced, plans
were made for the Mothers and
Others luncheon on May 11 and
some catering, and the June 2 anni-
versary was discussed when the
Klassen family will lead the ser-
vice.
Unit one met on Thursday, April
4 for a noon luncheon at Amelia
Jameson's place with Cathie West -
man and Audrey Westman assist-
ing.
