woman
injured in
accident
HENSALL - According to Exeter
police, Karen Watmore received in-
juries as a result of an accident at
the intersection of Nelson and
Richmond Street North, in Hensall
on April 10.
Nicholas TenHog, of Auburn,
was charged for disobeying the
stop sign.

Zurich seniors organizing euchre party

Zurich correspondent
ZURICH - The Zurich Golden
Agers will be having their next pro-
gressive euchre card party at the
Township Hall on Monday, April
22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. It will
cost $2.00 per person at the door
which includes lunch.
They met recently at the Town-
ship Hall with 14 attending. Phyllis
Deichert accompanied the singing
of 0 Canada and all repeated the
Lord's Prayer.
The Tri -county Senior Games
will be held June 17 and 18 in Exet-
er, .Hensall, Zurich, Dashwood and
Grand Cove Estates with headquar-
ters in Exeter.
The community games times,
places and conveners were set up
and will begin April 22 for three
weeks.
Doris Hamilton had a birthday
and Louis Denomme won the 50/50
draw.
The Senior's Prayer was repeat-
ed.
Optimists
The Zurich Optimist Club will be
sponsoring a community bingo on
April 20 starting at 7 p.m. at the
, arena.
Hay Days
Plans are well underway for Hay
Days Bowling Tournament that
will be held at the Town and Coun-

try Lanes in Zurich on April 28, be-
ginning with family teams bowling
at 11:00 a.m.
Various groups will bowl
throughout the day until 9:00 p.m.
To register a team of five people
costs $25.00 for the entry fee.
Shoes will be provided if needed.

Anyone interested in singing in
the Ecumenical Choir for Hay
Days celebration worship service
on June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zu-
rich Community Centre is to con-

School concert
Students from grades five to
eight of St. Boniface School will
be putting on their American Pop
Musical in the school gym from
April 17-19 with the concert start-
ing at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
There are only tickets left for the
Friday night performance. Phone
Teresa Van Raay at 237-3255 if
you want to go. The cost is $2.00
per person.
IOOth anniversary
Any former members of St. Bon-
iface Parish are invited to help cel-
ebrate the 100th anniversary on
May 5 at the Zurich Community
Centre. Dinner tickets are available
by phoning the office at the church
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (except
Wednesdays) or at the weekend
Masses. Adults are $12.50 and
children under 8 years cost $5.00.
Bishop Sherlock will say a spe-
cial Mass at 2 p.m. followed by
dinner at 5 p.m. There are also an-
niversary plates for sale at the
church for $15.00 each.
Talent show
The Zurich Public School will be
holding a talent show in their gym
on Tuesday afternoon, April 30, at
1 p.m,
Lions Club
Special guests at the Lions Club
meeting last Wednesday were Don-
na Finch and two-year-old daugh-
ter Ashley, along with the area re-
source person Lee -Ann Cross of
the visually impaired sight program
for children up to seven years old.
The Lions donated $200.00 to the
Child Lite Foundation which helps
52 children in seven counties in the
area.
Their next meeting will be held
May8at7p.m.
Fair board meeting
The Agricultural Society Fair
Board meeting has been changed to
April 24 at 8 p.m. in the Hay
Township Hall.
All members and directors are
asked to attend to help plan the up-
coming fair in July.
Evangelical Lutheran Women
The Zurich Evangelical Lutheran
Women met in the Fellowship Hall
on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
for business, followed by devo-
tions, with guest speaker Rev. Dan-
iel Roushorn of Exeter. Seventeen
women and four men were present
for the spiritual message by word
and song. This meeting was
planned by the late Gertie Fleis-
chauer, and presented by Helen Ot-
terbein. Freida Moore and Elda
Wagner were unable to assist due
to ill health. They are wished better
health as the days grow warmer.
Personals
An 80th birthday party open
house was held for Elizabeth
Grainger at the Community Centre
on Sunday with several family
members, friends and relatives at-
tending.
Daughters Helen and Wayne
Horner of St. Paul's Alberta, and
Cathy Fawcett of Sherwood Park
attended, along with their other
brothers .and sisters from the area.
A family dinner was held after-
wards.
Welcome back home to: Curtis
and Mary Gingerich from Sunny
Breeze, Florida; and to Hubert and
Marge Schilbe who were away
south during the winter months.
Sincere sympathy goes to the
family of the late Jerome Du-
chenne, who passed away suddenly
April 15.
