The Zurich Has Beans brought home gold medals and a trophy af-
ter winning the "B" championship in the International oldtiiners
hockey tournament in Zurich, Switzerland.
25 YEARS AGO
April 8, 1971 Exeter council Monday night unanimously ap-
proved a mobile home park "in principle", but indications were
clear that it will be some time before such a development takes
place in the community -Local businessman Len Veri has' proposed
a 19 acre development in the arca of Riverside Drive in the vicinity
Of the local curling rink and u Kitchener firm has apparently op-
tioned land east of the local fairgrounds for a proposed mobile home
park.
At one of four special meetings held recently, Exeter council ap-
proved a capital expenditure of about $250,000 for the erection of u
new town hall and fire station.
The Exeter Broncos won the OMHA zone championship over
Blenheim. It's the tint provincial hockey championship to the town '
of Exeter. The club sponsored by the Midwestern Rodeo was
coached by Ron Bogart and managed by Bob Pooley.

April 3, 1961 - Bob Hayward who drove Miss Supertest 11I to two
straight wins in the.Marswprth trophy race, spoke to the Lucan Li-
ons Club recently and was presented with an honorary membership
in the club.
• South Huron District High School Board is advertising for lour
teachers for the 1961-62 term.
George Glendinning, R.R. 8, Parkhill, has won about $1,200 in
the recent running of the Irish Grand National Sweepstakes.
40 YEARS AGO
April 4, 1951 Martha Cochrane was named winner in a public
speaking contest for grade tight pupils at the Exeter Home and
School Association, Tuesday night.
Alice Carter, who recently carred her Gold Cord as Guide, ac-
companied by Mrs. Robert Luxton, travelled to Toronto to attend
the Gold Cord certificat;, presentation ceremony at the University of
Toronto.
SO YEARS AGO
April 6, 1951 - Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lindenfield have moved into
their new brick residence on Main street.
Pte. Ray Snell, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Snell, arrived in Lon
don Sunday after serving two years overseas in a tank corps of the
Governor General's Footguards. He saw heavy fighting in the hills
of Italy and with the Canaarans in France, Holland, Belgium and
Germany.
Mrs. E.D. Bell and her mother, Mrs. Hedley, who have been liv-
ing in Wingham, have arrived to make their home in Exeter where.
Mr. Bell has taken over the law practice of Mr. J.W. Morley.
Mr. Russell Balkw111 has purchased a lot from J.A. Stewart, east
of his residence, and is excavating a foundation for a new house.
75 YEARS AGO
April 2, 1921 - The choir of Carmel Presbyterian Church in Hen-
sall , consisting of 35 members, motored to Exeter Monday evening
and rendered the cantata, "Thc Living Christ" at Caven Church.
Messrs. Foote and Pilon are enlarging the Grey -Dort Garage by
removing a couple of partitions at the rear.
Mr. McNash of Walkerton is the assistant buttermaker in the
creamery at Centralia and commenced his duties Monday.
Rcv. Chidley, the now pastor of Thames Road Presbyterian
Church, was inducted on Thursday last.

April 2, 1896 - The noted 'sign painter, "Scottie" struck the vil-
lage of Lucan on Saturday and has been hard at work decorating the
windows of the businesses.
Rev. R.H. Shaw of Lucan was made the recipient of of 100 bush-
els of oats a few days ago by a number of his farm parishioners.
Thc Lucan correspondent for the Times reports that a sheep, a dog
and a heifer in Lucan have gone mad after being bitten by stray
dogs. The report continues, "We trust chief Manes will develop into
an expert marksman and kill every unmuzzled dog seen in the
town".

tries from the Exeter Pentecostal
Tabernacle was held at the home of
Dove Matheson March 28 at 2 p.m.
Jean Tricbner presided over the
meeting • and led in the hymn
"Christ Arose". Ada Triebner
played the organ. The roll call was
taken and answered by a bible
verse on "Rise". Ruth McLaren led
in prayer.
It was decided to send a donation
to the needy children, India's Boys'
Home and Mozambique Feeding
Program.
Ella Tinney read the story of San-
dra Vasburgh and Jean Jolly had a
missionary reading about Frank Ju -
Huck and'Marilyn Busch. Triebner
gave a message on "Redeeming
the Time" using Gal. 2:20 and 1 Pe-
ter 1:7. All the women read a
scripture,,Prayer requests were giv-
en by Triebner and all the women
prayed.
Lunch was provided by Mathe-
son and Ger'da Liebman helped
serve.

day church service on Sunday
morning. ,•
The congregation sang the Dox-
ology. The responsive reading was
token from the service book "Exalt-
ed King and Gracious Father",
Psalm 68.
The choir sang "This Isn't Love"
accompanied by organist Agnes
Bray. They sang the children's
hymn "Lord of the Dance" and
Rev. Allsop gave each child and
some adults a palm branch. They
went around the inside of the
church waving a palm branch and
saying "Hosanna to the King."
Rev. Allsop lit the Christ Candle.
They sang the Baptismal Hynt?a
"Father of the Human Family" and
Rev. Allsop baptized Rachel Nicole
Garrow, daughter of Paul and Kar-
en Garrow. Ray Cann; Clerk of
Session, presented the Garrow's
with a certificate.
Robert and Kathy Bray received
the offering.
The scripture lesson frotn the Old
Testament Isaiah 50:4-9a and from
the New Testament Philippians 2:5-
1 I. Rev. Allsop read from the Gos-
pel of Matthew 21:1-11.
The title of his sermon was enti-
tled "Having the Mind of.Christ."
- They sang the closing hymn "All
Glory Laud and Honour" and Rev.
Allsop pronounced the benediction.

11:00 a.m.

'er lily in the sanctuary in memory
of a loved one for the joint service
on the Sunday, please contact Shar-
on Passmore or Judith Parker be-
fore Thursday. Following the ser-
vice your Easter lily can be given
to a shut in if you wish.

Cigarettes stolen from
Tender Spot Grocery Store
ZURICH - Thc front door window of the Tender Spot Grocery Store
was smashed on Saturday night and 46 cartons of cigarettes were taken.
The owner of the store awoke to the sound of breaking glass and called
police.

The Council representatives, of the above,
municipalities are meeting on an ongoing basis lo
determine the feasibility of amalgamating the four
municipalities into a single municipal corporation.
These meetings are open to the public. Any group
