ating at home.
Next euchre will be April 10,
thirty-six attended the entenain-
ment for Oddfellows and their
wives. After a pot luck Meal.,
there were readings, a story by
Elly Van Bergen and a skit•by
Sisters Audrey MacGregor, Leo-
na Hern, Bernice Ford and Doris
Denham. Some stayed for a few
games of euchre. The hall was
beautifully decorated for St. Pat-
rick's.
The lodge has been invited to
Victoria Lodge #I, London for
theiri Musicians Night, May 2
and to Brussels to see the Pres-
entation of Decoration of Chiv-
alry April 13. There was also an
invitation to May Queen#5, •
London for Brothers Night April
17. A donation was made to Pal-
liative Care Volunteer Program.
From the Tabloid -Camp Trilli-
um was started in 1984 through
a donation of $4000 from the
Oddfcllows and Rebekahs. By
1986, the Oddfellows and Rebe-
kahs were contributing $25,000-
$30,000 per year. When the per,
manent site at Garrett's Island
became a reality, the donations
increased to $40,000 per year. In
1993 a new Chapel/Activity
Hall was built, mainly through a
donation of $60,000 from the
Oddfellows and Rebekahs of
Ontario.
The next meeting, April 3, is
the visit of DDP Sis. Erma Cart-
wright, Clinton. Pot luck at 6:30,
followed by a meeting at 8 p.m.

Atthill to arrange for a key.
April 10 is the District meeting
at 2 p.m. April 28 is the annual
church service at Hensall United•

Five members attended the
Irish Stew and Brothers Night at
Dorchester and five members
went to Stratford to see them
confer the Degree on two candi-
dates.
The program committee con-
ducted a silent auction. Sand-
wiches were served for lunch.
Beta Sigma
Phi tours
recycling
plant
EXETER - On March 19 Alpha
Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met
at Huron Park for a tour of the
Blucwater Recycling Association
facility.
Greg Archibald showed us the
different items that are acceptable
for recycling. He stressed that if
there are any questions as to wheth-
er or not an item was recyclable
just to phone the Association.
The group saw how the items are
sorted and prerired for shipping as
well as some of the products made
from recycled material. it was an
interesting and informative eve-
ning.
The business portion of the met-
ing was at the home of June Essery.•
Maida Gaiser reported on the final
plans for Daffodil Day On March
29. Rosemary Schaefer announced
that tickets had been purchased for
the members to attend the play Jo-
seph and the Amazing Technico-
lour Dreamcoat at the Grand Thea-
tre ory April 30. A donation Was
made to the School Section of;t6e
Kirkton Fall Fair. A thank you note
was read by Elsie Herman .• lam,
Jenn Ellison for our contribution to
the cost of her attending the Porum
for Young Canadians, .
The special prize donated by the
Ways and Means .Corninittee was

for the Heart and Stroke Foundation
Varna area residents
donated $1,175 to the
Foundation.

VARNA - Instead of their regular
meeting, the Stan Lee will host an
open euchre party on April 3 al 8
p.m. at the Stanley Complex, The
proceeds will go to the Clinton
Public Hospital Awtiliary. Admis-
sion is S2 and there will be lunch
and door prizes.
Heart and stroke canvass
The Orange Lodge reports that
the Heart and Stroke Foundation
canvass has been completed with
$1,175 raised from the Varna and
the Central Stanley area. This
marks the fourteenth consecutive
year that the Lodge has organized
the canvass. The canvassers were
Floyd McAsh, Ruby Lafaive, Keith
Stephenson, Gerry Pennings, Jack
Eckel, Allan Hayter, Bill Dowson,
Doug McAsh, Loren Love, Charles
Reid and Ivan McClymont.

Rev. Willie Zielger led wor-
ship service in Goshen 1auunday
and combined church services will
be in Goshen again Sunday, March
31 with Ellie Van Bergen. Church
services will be held in Varna April
7 with Rev. Zielger.
There will be a Maundy Thurs-
day service in Brucefield April 4
and all are invited to attend.
There will be an April Thankof-
fering in St. Andrews Church in
Bayfield and Varna U.C.W. are in-
vited April 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tile
guest will be Sue Bell, speaking on
the blind. Kippen U.C.W. have
also invited the Varna U.C.W. to
attend their ' ff--ins' April 9.

Day of Recollection and Mass with
Father Joseph Kavanaught, from

ful World.of Women seminar, held
this year in Wyoming. It was very 1
inspiring, talking about the relation-
ship of women, money and self es-
teem. In a woman's life time, they
earn 3/4 or less of men's wages,
and most women get no pension Z
plan. One third of all women over
65 and two thirds of all women`
over 25 live below the poverty line.
Women live longer and are poorer
than men. Another topic covered
was "Live Your Dream" and sug-
gested that you write a letter to
yourself for the year 2005: Where
you and the world are now, and
where you and the world will be in
10 years.
Lunch groups, fees and enter-
tainment were organized. Tillie
VanLeeuwen has volunteers orga-
nized for delivery of Meals on
Wheels. Toni Vandenberk will get
raffle tickets printed for•the annual
quilt raffle. The materials will be
set up in the parish hall for a quilt-
ing bee, to begin after Easter. Quilt-
ing novices and experts are invited
to help.
The CWL London Diocesan Con-
vention will be held in Windsor
from April 22-24 with Gera Peters
and Josey Britton as delegates. The
nomination forms for election of
officers for the diocesan level were
filled out during the meeting. Ro-
berta Walker gave the report on res-

reminds members that some areas
addressed by resolutions in the
past, May reappear as current issues
to be dealt with, like cigarette ad-
vertising and capital punishment.
Letters are needed again to the
Minister of Health requesting that
all alcohol containers carry warning
labels stating the risks of alcohol
consumption during pregnancy.
The Provincial/Territorial Health
Ministers are now requesting the
Federal Government take action on
the preventable condition •of fetal
alcohol syndrome. This time your
letter will count more than ever.

Pre -registration for .children eligible to commence
KINDERGARTEN in September 1996 is being carried out in
Middlesex County Public Schools.
Children who will be five years old by December 31, 1996 are
eligible to attend.
NOTE: If your child is currently enrolled in Junior Kindergarten at
a Middlesex County Public School, you do not have to re -register
your child.
With the impending reduction or elimination in grants from the
provincial government, the feasibility of all programs is currently
under examination by the Board. Consequently, Junior
Kindergarten may not be provided in 1996-97. The Board
cannot make a decision until funding information is received
from the Ministry of Education and Training. A formal
announcement will be made once this decision has been made.
Nevertheless, pre -registration is proceeding as usual.
Pre -registration for children eligible to commence JUNIOR
KINDERGARTEN in September 1996 is being carried out in the
