"Green Day" to be celebrated at the Blue Water Rest Home ZURICH - Monday noon tenants of Maplewoods Apartments visited the Home for their monthly dinner out. Anna Erb, Verda Baechler, Laura Gascho, Meda O'Brien, Ha O'Rourke and Vera Shantz enjoyed dining in the auditorium at Blue Water Rest Home. In the afternoon the Residents watched the video "The Man Without a Face" starring Mel Gibson". Sister Susan's grade 5 class at St. Boniface School, Zurich has been unblessed with the flu bug travel- ling the neighbourhood and there- fore the Tuesday morning Buddy Program at BWRH was cancelled. Tuesday afternoon Bible Study was lead by Winnie Hutton of Zurich Mennonite Church in the BWRH Chapel. Tuesday evening members of the BWRH Auxiliary visited the Home to entertain the Residents. Carmel Sweeney was chairperson and Idel- la Gabel played a medley of Irish tunes on the piano. Monique & Stephanie Gelinas, daughters of Cheryl and Mozart Jr., sang solos and duets. The Gelinas sisters are •'oice pupilla sit Kith Redick. Anne Flaxbard read a St. Patrick's Day poem. Theo Vandenbootn read pucrns written by Philippa Steckle, a resident at the Home. Philippa wrote the poems, a few years ago, when she was in her prime, about Dashwood WI enjoy skit DASHWOOD - Dashwood Wom- en's Institute held their March meeting with 12 members in atten- dance. The meeting began with Irish music followed by a St. Pat- rick's Day word search and contest. The roll call was answered by nam- ing a new product tried and why I like it. An invitation was accepted to host the March birthdays at the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, on March 26 at 7 a.m. Following the business meeting, members sang the WI Centennial song. A skit about the modern Ca- nadian housewife, whether under 35, over 35 or not admitting to any age. Housewives acted out by Doro- thy Restemayer and Aldene Wolfe, narrator Ruth Stire. Canadian Industry was arise - month's topic. the members dis- cussed the many industries, entre- preneurs, music and religious pro- fessionals required for "The, Wedding Industry". This led into the reminiscing of one's own wed- ding which took place many years ago. Robert Putman, Grand Bend United Church conducted Thursday afternoon Chapel.' Service with the assistance of Beatrice Rader as or- ganist. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated Mass. Thursday evening was Pizza Party Time as the Residents covered their own crust with sauce, pepperoni, ham, bacon bits, green peppers, mushrooms and grated cheese, Ca- thy Shantz, Adjuvant popped the pizza's' in the oven and one and all feasted on their labours. Esther Ma- kins thanked Cathy and Charlene Manson for their assistance. Friday afternoon was Bingo tine, tinder the leadership of Anti McBride, Hobby Room Convenor in the absence of Josef Risi, Bingo caller extraordinaire, who is vaca- tioning in Switzerland. Our condolences to the family and friends of the Late Mr. Harvey Keys who passed away in his 80th year at BWRH on Friday, March8, 1996. Harvey came to the Home on March 10, 1988 and was able to call each staff member and most residents by name from his favour- ite hallway location overlooking Lake Huron. Harvey liked to keep informed of sporting events and would recall his years as a baseball coach. Harvey obtained his vast knowledge from working at home on the farm with his father while his brothers obtained than from McGill and Harvard universities. Just a reminder young volunteer ladies, a navy blue nylon "Northern Reflections" jacket has'been found at, the Re$t Home.
