According to police. a woman wbo verbally identified herself as
working for the town approached a residence in wbiob a dog was kept
as a pet.
Numerous inquiries were made about the dog tp attempt to establish
credibility, such as whether it had been spayed or uttered, and if it had
its proper shots etc. The would-be victim of the fraud kgew her father
usually picked up new tags for the dog every year at the municipal of-

On Sunday February 25 Esther
Makins and her younger sister Frei-
da Scotchmer of BWRH ventured
into the c6untry with their MP,
Paul Steckle to their old homestead
at RR 2 Zurich. The place Kathy
and Paul have called home for
many years, was the home of Es-
ther and Freida from 1906-1917
when they were young girls, before
they moved to another farm on the
Blue water when they were teens
(14 and 12). Esther and Freida
found the homestead had received
many changes over the years and
Paul pulled out his collection of in-
formation and deeds from 1863 to
the present. The home cooked
meal, the place on the hill, brought
back many happy memories of yes-
teryear for two women who will
celebrate 93 and 91 years young
this month.
