Public speaking winners Euchre party

Winners of the Hensel! Legion Public Speaking Contest held last Tuesday were presented
with awards. The first place in the junior division was taken by Candace Becker, right with
seond and third won by Ashley Erb and Jenny McKinnon.

anna Becker, who placed first.
Stephanie Erb, left, place first in the senior divls/on. Brianne Webber, middle, placed third
and Nic Bayley placed second at the competition.
McCurdy Public School public speaking winners for the Junior division were from left Hung
Vo, Ryan Knee, second, and Ashley Arnold who placed third. In the senior division Crelene
Duck placed first, Holly Seabrook placed second and Shauntell Schwartz placed third.

SHIPKA - At the February 14 eu-
chre party at Shipka Community
Centre there were five tables in
play. Winners were: Ladies high
Mary Moser; Ladies low Mabel
Fraser: Ladies lone hands Aldene
Wolfe; Mens high Tony Marine;
Mens low Elliot Clarke; Mens lone
hands, a tie between Earl Dietrich
and Lorne Becker.
The next euchre will be March 6.
Personals
Relatives here received word this
month of the death of their aunt,
Lillian Meininger. Before retiring
to Michigan, the Meiningers had
renovated and lived in Smoky Hol-
low School here.
A number of friends gathered
last week at the home of Melvin
and Gertie Stade, to honor Mel -
vin's 80th birthday. In the social
time, games of euchre were played
followed by lunch and birthday
cake. Attending were Jack and Kay
Cockwill and Marjorie Adams, Ex-
eter, Harold and Ruth Stire and
Alma Genttner, of Dashwood and
Hugh and Annie Morenz.
The Jackson, Coleman, Morenz
and Finlayson families were noti-
fied on February 17 of the death of
their cousin, Violet Baines of Cal-
gary, Alberta. She was a daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Jack-
son, and granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Jackson of Hay town-
ship.
Sunday visitors with Ken and
Marg Baker were Mike, Donna,
Emily and Ryan Yarrow of
Guelph.
Ken and Betty Oldacre, of Sea -
forth, Ken and Marg Baker, were
Saturday visitors with Elliott and
Kay Clarke.

mountain
bikes stolen
HURON PARK - Two mountain
bikes were reported stolen from the
property of Kristina Mathers on
Feb. 19.
Exeter OPP report the bicycles
were outside between the house
and the shed when they were tak-
en. One bike is a grey men's CCM
and the other is women's red CCM.
