Times -Advocate, February 28, 1996 Page 9 Garbage collection on agenda Zurich residents will have a chance to voice their opinions on the issue. - Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - An important meeting will be held at the Zurich Commu- nity Centre on Tuesday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m. to discuss the garbage collection program. The residents of Zurich will have a chance to voice their opinions on this matter and a representative from the Bluewater Recycling As- sociation will also be present to as- sist in answering your questions. Ladies Auxiliary Members of the Ladies Auxiliary are reminded their next meeting will be held on March 5 at the Blue Water Rest Home, starting at 7 p.m. Girls Club The Girls Club met at the Men- nonite Church hall last Thursday, then walked over to the Rest Home where they presented a program for the residents and made some crafts for them. Their next meeting will be in the March break, when they will tour the bake shop at 10:00 a.m., March 14. Everyone is to bring along a brown bag lunch as they will return to the Mennonite Church fellow- ship hall for games, and do some baking. Leaders are Linda Hendrick, Ruth Oesch, Angela Clausius and Monica Gingerich. Baseball registration Any children wanting to play baseball this summer will have a chance to register at the Zurich Arena on March 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. World Day of Prayer The World Day of Prayer service will be held March 1 at the Zurich Mennonite Church at 2:00 p.m. Day of Reflection A Day of Reflection will be held at St. Boniface Parish on March 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. for C.W.L. members. Father Hurdle will be the speaker. Women are asked to bring a brown bag lunch and drinks will be served. Optimist Club The next Optimist Club meeting will be held on March 6 at the home of Janisse Zimmerman be- ginning at 6:45 p.m. Hay Days The community centre was full to capacity Saturday evening. "Reflections of Hay" models wore some outfits that were both historical and beautiful. Some dat- ed back to 1846 to 1910 to the present day styles. The next Hay Days activity will be an N.H.L. Society convention Claire and Margaret Deichert, Gerry and Diane Thiel and Ambas- sador Renee Sweeney attended the Agricultural Society Convention in Toronto last week from February 20-23 at the Royal York. Chamber of Commerce The Chamber of Commerce held their last dinner meeting at the Do- minion Tavern on February 20 with 17 members present. Presi- dent Joan Cassidy from Brentwood on the Beach chaired the meeting. Special speaker for the evening was Pastor Ross Thomson from St. Peter's Lutheran Church on the topic "The Evolution of the Com- munity." Their next meeting will be held at Erb's Country Kitchen on Tues- day, March 19 with a speaker com- ing from the Huron County Plan- ning department in Goderich, Dinner begins at 7 p.m. Workshop A workshop on "How to Thrive as a Farm Family" will be held at the Exeter Legion Hall on March 2 from I0 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To register phone 482-3416. A collaboration between the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Foundation and the Exeter Lions Club, the Conservation Dinner raises funds for con- servation -related projects for the benefit of all residents of this watershed. Ashley Erb was unable to partici- pate due to illness. Five tables of solo and euchre games were played. Personals Gertie Fleischauer spent a few days in London recently visiting her family. She also helped grand- daughter Sarah Rogers celebrate her 15th birthday. Rose Regier, Zurich, along with daughter-in-law Bonnie Regier and son Marc of London recently spent three days in Pittsburg, Pennsylva- nia visiting at the convent with Sis- ter Marie Pierre Bedard. Bernadette Denomme returned home recently after spending some time in Windsor visiting with fami- ly members. She is also thrilled at the arrival of her first great- grandchild. Corot' James was born on February -11 to grandson Jeff and Anne Marie Denomme, Wind- sor. While they were there they also had a family get-together at the home of daughter Mary -Ann and Mike LaRivier in Tecumseh to help son Mark Denomme celebrate his birthday. Gord and Cecilia Smith were Sunday dinner guests at the home of their son David and Michelle Smith and three children in Gode- rich. Last week visitors with Percy and Marie Bedard Sr. were grand- daughter Nicole Robichuk and her daughter Paige from Munsen, Al- berta, Amanda Worsell from Sas- katoon, grandson Trever. Worsell and his daughter Jordan from Strat- ford. They also visited with family members in Zurich and area. Sunday dinner guests with Paul and Kathy Steckle and family were sisters Esther Makins and Freida Scotchmer of Blue Water Rest Home. They enjoyed returning to the farm where they both lived 79 years ago. Seleda Steckle of the Blue Water Apartments and Bill and Betty Steckle were also guests with them. Golden Agers Grand Bend Golden Agers held a Valentine euchre at the Legion hall on February 14 with eight tables in play. Men's winners were: Clayton Lovie, Emil Becker, Ron Howarth, Tom Carter, Gordon Coulter, Cleve Brophey, Jim Love Huron County Waste Management Master Plan RESIDENTS OF HURON PARK & AREA A public meeting has been scheduled to provide the residents of Huron Park and Area the opportunity to become informed and provide comments on the Waste Transfer Station being proposed by the Bluewater Recycling Association. This transfer sta- tion is to be located adjacent to the Association's w existing recycling facility in Huron Park.
