Dog slammed on pavement
"There is enough violence in this
world already."
Dear Editor:
On Saturday, February 10, 1996 as I was waiting
with my children outside the SAAN store, two big
dogs came running across the street. One of them
knocked a child down.
The man who was with the child picked the dog
up over his head and slammed him onto the pave-
ment.
I am angry and upset that my children had to wit-
ness such a cruel act of violence against an animal. -
There is enough violence in this world already.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Cook,

Foundation warns of imposters
"All canvassers for the Heart &
Stroke (Foundation) will have
identification..."
Dear Editor:
It has come to our attention that some people are
canvassing for funds under the name of the Heart &
Stroke Foundation, and possibly other charitable
foundations, who are not authorized. We would ap-
preciate your co-operation in warning the public.
All canvassers for the Heart & Stroke (Founda-
tion) will have identification and will furnish an of-
ficial receipt when receiving donations.
Thank you.

Seniors concerned about health care
It is very important to Senior Citizens to
have quality and accessibility to health
care...
Dear Editor:
The Senior Citizens of the Town of Exeter are
sending this correspondence in regards to the possi-
ble closing of area hospitals.
Because we are an aging population we are great-
ly concerned about losing easy accessibility to
blood laboratory, radiology, physiotherapy, clincis,
bed availability and emergency services.
Because of our location, the next closest hospital
would involve problems of transportation, time,
weather, accessibility to a bed and a doctor.
We realize there has to be some cutbacks, but we
don't understand the process by which the cutbacks
are being made; especially, when health care is a
major concern.
It is very important for Senior Citizens to have
quality and accessibility to health care.
We are asking you to take a good hard look at this
important situation. After all, it was the Senior Citi-
zens that built this country. Please give us your re-
spectful consideration.
Sincerely,
The Exeter Senior Citizens

Who is this person that Huron County
has elected?
Dear Editor:
Too bad she hasn't a clue what is going on, except
that, when all is said and done she has a job. If I
conducted myself with that much incompetence at
my work I would surely be brought to task and may-
be fired. Who is this person that Huron has elected?
As a very proud expatriate of Huron County liv-
ing in Toronto this kind of publicity is embarrass-
ing.
I hope that the press back home in beautiful Hu-
ron County can manage to give its people the proper
information to keep it a wonderful place to raise
caring and giving children with a sense of commu-
nity and a greater love and responsibility for our fel-
low, perhaps less fortunate man. I never imagined

that we could elect someone with such hatred to-
ward the poor, after all, they are an easy target, and
hate seems a lot simpler than help. But alas, it is not
the right thing to do. It is very easy for me to also
look at those who realize now, too late, the mistake
they made in voting such treacherous individuals
into the legislature, and tell them, "this is what you
deserve." But alas that too would be wrong.
All you people who call yourselves Christians, I
challenge you to swallow with a conscience what is
happening to your fellow citizen, and question your
responsibility to them!!!.
