All About Christmas
By Bryan Parker
Grade 2, Hewed! Public School
I like Christmas because Santa
comes around and gives you
presents. I think that is the best part
of all about Christmas.
I am going to give a present to
Mom and Dad and my sister and
my brother. I will be getting a few
presents too. It will be fun. I get
nice clothes too. They are neat.
I hope I don't go anywhere be-
cause then I can stay home and
play with my toys and spend some
time with my family.
For supper we have chicken and
corn and mashed potatoes. That is
sounding tasty. I wish I could have
some right now. In fact I am going
to get some right now.
Feelings of Christmas
By Dana Thiel
Grade 8, Zurich Public School
As winter winds blow,
The ground is covered in blankets
of snow,
Frost is in the winter air,
Go fora walk, if you dare!
Unwrapping gifts from under the
tree,
Surrounded with happiness as you
may see,
With your family, be as you may,
Have a great time on Christmas
Day!
My Christmas Poem
By Amanda McVeeney
Grade 8, Huron Centennial P.S.
The kids were so excited,
Parents were delighted,
Santa and the reindeer were in
flight,
They will work all through ;the
night.
Rudolph's nose shines oh so bright,
Elves worked hard for this busy
night,
Children were in bed fast asleep,
From the house there was not a
beep.
A tiny star lights up the sky so
bright,
On this very special Christmas
night,
Santa's cheeks were like a rose,
That matched his bright red nose.
Children wakened up to find[
Presents from a man so kind,
But let Ls not forget the reason of
this morn,
It's the morn a special babe was
born.
Santa
By Gary Sander

There once was a fat guy in red,
He motored around in a sled,
He gives presents away,
He is happy and gay,
That jolly old fat guy in red.

Christmas Love
By Melissa Welsh
Grade 7, St. Boniface School
Olivia Peterson gazed at the pic-
ture -perfect scene around her.
Shoppers with tons of shopping
bags, each store decorated with a
colourful Christmas theme. She just
loved Christmas. Especially all the
gift -giving.
Even twelve -year-old Olivia
could admit she was a little selfish.
She liked to have nice things. And
sometimes Christmas was an ex-
cuse to get those things. I can't help
it if I like to get presents, Olivia of-
ten thought to herself.
And Olivia definitely liked going
to the mall. She also enjoyed
Christmas shopping, which was
how she was spending her Saturday
afternoon. She had been at the mall
for about three hours and had yet to
purchase anything. She glanced at
her wrist -watch and instantly knew
that she was going to be grounded.
She was an hour late.
Sure enough, after she had
parked her bike and opened the
front door, her mother greeted her
with an annoyed look. Olivia didn't
care. She just had to tell her mother
about the cute skirt she had seen.
"Mom, I...", she began. Her
mother stopped her.
"Olivia, I don't want to hear
about it. You have always been
selfish, but this takes the cake.
Your father and I had to miss that
party we were going to because no
one was here to watch your little
sister. You only think about your-
self!"
Olivia groaned. "Who cares? I
never get what I want!" With that
Olivia stormed up to her room. As
she lay on her bed, she thought
about what she had said to her
mother. Then it hit her. She was
selfish, and mean, and self-
centered. Olivia cried herself to
sleep.
The next morning Olivia left ear-
ly for the mall. She wanted to do
something nice, to prove that she
could be kind and loving. But
what?
As she biked to the mall, she
passed the city's homeless shelter.
A weary, very poor -looking family
was sitting near the window. Olivia
, got an idea. She went in the shelter
to explain her idea to the owner.
`The owner thought it was. a•.very
nice suggestion.
On Christmas day, Olivia got a
lot of nice things. After everything
had been opened, Olivia stood up
and said, "My gift to you, my fami-
ly, is a message. I've learned that
Christmas is not about getting, it's
about giving, caring and loving.
And sharing with those less fortu-
nate." She motioned to her new
things. "I have more than I'll ever
need. I've decided to give some of
my things - old and new - to people
who could really use them." Her
family smiled.
That night, at dinner, Olivia had
another surprise for her family. The
1 family she had seen in the shelter
window.
"This is the Jones family. They
live in the shelter downtown. I in-
vited them to share Christmas with
us." The two families quickly made
friends. Olivia felt better than she
had in a long time. This is the best
Christmas ever, thought Olivia.
And it was.
Let us all give
thanks for the
many blessings
we enjoy,
Thank you for your patronage over the past year and
we lock forward to serving you in the New Year

The Night Santa Was
Caught
By Dolly Chansamone
Grade 7, McCurdy Public School
The stockings hung by the fire,
When Santa came, he pulled the
wire,
Out ran the children, fast and about,
"Santa!" they'd yell, leap, and
shout,
They pranced and danced,
All over the room.
They knew one day they'd catch
him soon,
Today was the day they caught the
old man,
"Hurray, we caught Santa!" yelled
all of his fans.

Dear Santa:

Game Gear. I was a good boy this

much to ask. I love you Santa. I
wish I could see you on Christmas

that late.
I am six years old.

Christmas

The wind lashed the snow against
the window. It was the worst
weather we had ever had, and yet it
worsened.
But even through that awful dark-
ness, through the deadly wind and
hurtling branches, there was still
happiness, happiness that shines
through even on the darkest days.
That happiness is the love that
shines through on Christmas!

P.S.
Santa lives in the North Pole in a
castle made of crayons.
In Santa's basement he has a lot
of vampires.
Santa's elves dress up like girls
and put on makeup. Santa is magic
and he watches everybody. Santa is
funny because he says Ho, Ho, Ho.

Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city
