Twenty-four Grand Bend United
Church women met Thursday, De-
cember 14 for their annual potluck
luncheon with guest Rev. Bob Put-
man.
Jean Cassidy, in charge of the
program, had a contest guessing
words from Christmas.
The worship was taken by Vera
Rempel, Jean Cassidy and Laura
Flewelling as they each told of the
unfolding drama of Christmas as
written by Rev. J. McKay, a former
interim pastor this past year. In
Isaiah 7:14 history and legend are
entwined. John 1:14 tells the char-
acter of God, He sent Jesus. In He-
brews 13:8 King of Kings, Jesus
teaches that the Kingdom of God is
inside oneself. The hymns "0 come
all ye faithful" and "Silent night"
were sung accompanied at the pia-
no by Ina Flewelling. Laura read
the poem "A Christmas Rose" and
said she remembers as a child visit-
ing her aunt where wild roses
bloomed.
President Loreen Gill conducted
business. The 1996 budget was pre-
sented by Marian Maguire. Cards
were signed for Norma Carey and
Mary Haw.
