Horticultural Society tours rose nursery
The group enjoyed a
bus trip last Wednes-
day.

GRANTON - Granton area mem-
bers of the Kirkton Horticultural
Society enjoyed a bus trip on
Wednesday, Nt, :ember 22 to the
Walters Family Roundup Dinner
Show at the Paris Exhibition Centre
featuring the Paul Brothers and
Shirley. Enroute the group toured
the Rosalee Rose Nursery at
Princeton and visited the Mary
Maxim store in Paris.
Ross and Cathie Wessman re-
turned home on Sunday from a
one-week vacation in Victoria and
Vancouver.

and Florence McRobert, Amelia
Jameson and Madeline Hardie took
a bus trip to the Country Christmas
dinner and entertainment at Binge -
man Park near Kitchener on Thurs-
day, November 23.
Several Granton women took in
the Lucan United Church bazaar
and luncheon on Saturday, prob-
ably one of the last bazaars of the
season.
Many area residents visited St.
Marys on Sunday for tax free shop -
Theft claims
box trailer
EXETER - An 18 -foot box trailer
was reported stolen Thursday from
Kongskilde Ltd. on Thames Road.
The trailer was blue and had the li-
cence number E82765.
Police are investigating a suspect
after a Chevrolet 305 motor was
stolen last Wednesday from Saun-
ders Auto Body in Lucan.
A male had entered the business
requesting an engine. He then load-
ed it onto a truck which departed
prior to the motor being paid for.
On Saturday it was reported
someone stole a portable CD player
and CDs from a car parked at the
Three A's Restaurant in Exeter.
On Sunday CDs were also taken
from a vehicle parked on Centre
Street in Dashwood. The thief
gained access by breaking a win-
dow.
Last Wednesday a car stereo and
cassettes were stolen from a car
parked overnight in a Dashwood
driveway.
A car was slightly damaged Fri-
day night on Andrew Street in Exet-
er after someone kicked the tail
light.

brunch buffet at Damon's Restau-
rant which was also tax free.
Church service
At the Granton Church on Sun-
day, November 26 Pastor Normalie
Voakes entitled her sermon 'Ser-
vants of the Servant King'. She
concluded her message by saying
that each one should go forth in
loving service for Jesus Christ, Sa-
viour Redeemer and King. The les-
sons were from Jeremiah 23, Co-
lossians one, and Luke 23, and the
anthem by the choir was 'Like a
Lamb'.
Flowers were placed in the
church from the funeral of Lorraine
Broughton's sister Barbara Jane
Druiett.

The Granton Women's Institute
met at Alma Nicholson's place on
Tuesday evening, November 21.
The topic was Canadian Industries
and the roll call was answered by
naming a local industry. The motto
was 'What Canada makes, makes
Canada'. Florence McRobert con-
vened the program reading an arti-
cle about Strathroy Foods winning
a quality award through Loblaws.
She also read a story about dad
kissing the hired man who was his
wife and had helped with the har-
vest. Other readings were 'The
Cows Are in the Barn', and 'Down
on the Farm'.
Muriel Lewis opened the meeting
with a reading 'November' and re-
ported on the recent area conven-
tion.
Articles were brought in for the
Children's Hospital of Western On-
tario. A donation was also made to
the 4-H Club and an invitation was
read to attend their Achievement
Night at the Masonic Hall on De-
cember 7 at 7 p.m. A dessert lunch
was served by the hostess.

The Granton #1 4-H club met at
the home of leader Margaret Bryan
for their fifth meeting of country
line dancing on Thursday, Novem-
ber 23. The club president Char-
lotte Mcllhargey opened the meet-
ing with the 4-H pledge. The roll
call was answered by naming three
or more songs that have the same
name as the line dances. Later the
group discussed ideas for the
Achievement Night. They also
learned the cajun slop. A snack was
provided by Rebecca Harlton and
Shannon O'Shea and the meeting
was closed with the 4-H motto. •

and reporter.
