Exeter and Ronald John, son

London were united in mar-
riage at Thames Road United
Church. Ron and Wendy are
residing in London.
4-H club
focuses on
vegetables

EXETER - On November 16 at
the home of Norma Cockwill, the
Exeter Ii 4-1-1 group held its fourth
meeting. The group repeated the 4-
H pledge and the roll call was:
Name a fruit or vegetable that starts
with the same ktter as the first let-
ter in their first or last name.
The secretary's report and press
report were given.
The group decided on a club
name and title page "Produce with
Pazzaz".
They travelled to Seip's valu
mart to look at the variety of pro-
duce that Ontario and other places
offer. They had a scavenger hunt to
find different foods in the produce
section.
They returned to Cockwills to
watch a video on Nutrition Figures
and tasted Moussaka and No -Fry
Falafels. The meeting ended at 9:00
On November 23, the 4-H group
Met at Norma Cockwill's for their
fifth meeting, beginning with the 4-
1-1 pledge, secretary and press re-
ports.
The roll call was "What was the
most interesting part of the trip to
Seips valu mart?"
They discussed the fruits and
vegetables in the alphabet and
found some interesting words. Dis-
cussion then centred on the
achievement program.
Members made and sampled
BTO (broccoli, tomato, and onion)
Pizza, Garden Stir Fry and Rutaba-
ga au Gratin, a sort of rutabaga
casserole. The meeting was ad-
journed at 9:00 p.m.
Thiel - Hendrick
Kathryn Elaine Hendrick and
Terry Robert Thiel were united
in marriage on October 7,
1995 at Zion Lutheran
Church, Dashwood. Pastor
Larry Stojkovic and Pastor
John Trembulak Ill officiated
the ceremony. Kathy is the
daughter of Howard and
Yvonne Hendrick, RR2 Credi-
ton and Terry is the son of
Marilyn Thiel, RR2 Zurich. The
maid of honour was Stepha-
nie Peters, friend of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Julie Bow-
ers and Denise Hendrick,
both sisters of the bride; Tam-
my Thiel, sister of the groom;
, and Anita Windsor, friend of
the bride and groom. The
best man was Dave Windsor,
friend of the bride and groom.
Groomsmen were Steve Hen-
drick, brother of the bride;
Dale Ducharme, friend of the
bride and groom; Charlie Du-
charme, friend of the bride
and groom and Greg Hen-
drick, brother of the bride.
Special music during the ser-
vice was done by soloist, Mar-
lene Thornton and accompa-
nist, Lorraine Armitage.
Organist was Joanne Maguire
and trumpet was played by
Pat Ducharme. Tracy Maxwell
read the scripture. Kathy and
Terry now reside in Hensall.
We would like to thank all of
our family and friends for
their love and support and
most of all for sharing in our
wedding day.

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Allsop
was in charge of the first Sunday of
Advent and White Gift Sunday
church service.
The responsive reading was "The
Well Being of the Church" Psalm
122 with Laura Miller the leader.
The lighting of the first Advent
Candle in the Advent wreath was lit
by Melonie Miller with Barry Mill-
er reading about the first purple
candle or the waiting candle. Laura
and Maggie also read with Barry
closing with prayer.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn "I Am The Light of
the World" and Rev. Allsop told
the children's story about "Johnny
Blue". The Old Testament scripture
lesson was taken from Isaiah 2:1-5
was read by Ann Marie Hodgert.
The offering was received by Sarah
Miller and Ryan Parker.
The scripture reading from the
New Testament was taken from
Romans 13:11-14 read by Vanessa
Bray.
The scripture reading from the
Gospel of Matthew 24:36-44 was
read by Kristy Bray.
The Sunday School White Gift
drama was enacted with Robyn
Etherington and Joan Morgan the
readers with Amy Hodgert, Erin
Parker, Maggie Miller, Megan
Parker, Sarah Miller, Kristy Bray,
Susan Miner, Paul Morgan, and
Jessica Bray taking part. Heather
Morgan was dressed up as a clown,
and Jessica Bray went around the
audience painting their nose and
looking in a mirror.
The closing hymn "Hark the Glad
Sound, The Saviour Comes" was
sung which brought a very nice ser-
vice to a close.

On Thursday, November 30 the
Sunbeam Moms will meet for a
candy house assembly night at
Thames Road at 8:00 p.m. Call
Carolyn Johns if you can make it.
Cromarty WMS remember'
Roberta Templeman
STAFFA - Betty Lou Norris pre-
sided for the November meeting of
the Cromarty Presbyterian Marian
Ritchie W.M.S. on Tuesday eve-
ning, using as her theme 'Remem-
brance'. Joy Scott conducted the
worship service after which 10
members answered the roll call on
'Remembrance'.
Alice Gardiner gave the special
number and dedicated the offering,
and the Least Coin was collected.
My husband and 1, our two children, Emily and Leanne and our store
manager, Barb Gower, would like to wish you all an inspired and united
Christmas season.
We've had another eventful year in which we saw our school market
suffer because of budget cuts but our local business increased
substantially. The October print date for our first main -order catalogue
ran into problems and we're now looking at a March launch. We've
been busy compiling a healthy mailing list and we thank you for your
patience.

ed for the business and then the an-
nual meeting was held.
Secretary Jean Carey reported on
the group's activities during 1995
and the treasurer Mary Elliott re-
ported that the group's allocation
had been met.
The Marian Ritchie and Ladies
Aid will host the Christmas meet-
ing on Monday evening, December
4, when everyone is invited to at-
tend.
John and Roberta Templeman
joined Wilfrid and Isabel Annis
and their family for a turkey dinner
on Saturday evening, celebrating
Wilfrid and Isabel's 55th wedding
anniversary.
Many from this community at-
tended the annual banquet of the
Pineridge Snowmobile Club in
Hensall on Saturday evening.
On Friday, December I the Mes-
sengers are having a Christmas par-
ty at Elimville church at 7 p.m.
Members are reminded to bring a
loonie.
On Sunday, December 3 it will
be Craft Sunday for the Sunday
School members; to make articles
and decorate the Christmas tree.
On Sunday, December 3 the
ETZWEK Youth Group will meet
at Gary and Maria Urquhart's for a
hay ride and Christmas party.
On Monday, December 4 the
Thames Road U.C.W. meeting is
set for 8:00 p.m. The program will
be planned by Jean Hodgert, Jo-
Anne Rowe, Ruth Ann Osgood.
The roll call will be "A good deed I
have done or had done for me". Re-
member to bring a new or used gift
for the Christmas Bureau, and your
Secret Pal gift. Group W is provid-
ing lunch.
On Wednesday, December 6 the
Session will meet at Thames Road
at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, December 10, bring
lunch and stay for concert practice.
The concert is a joint concert at
Elimville which is on Tuesday, De-
cember 19 at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, December 24 the
Christmas Eve service will be at
Thames Road.
A Community of Churches Unit-
ed In Faith church service was held
in Thames Road Church on Sunday
evening. Before the service com-
menced an orchestra comprised of

Rohde on violin, Doug Stephen on

no. Doris Spence led in the sing
song. Joost Drost of Hibbert U.C.
gave words of welcome. The choir
sang "My Tribute" accompanied
by the organist Orrie Hartwick of
Woodham U.C., June Essery of
Centralia U.C. gave the Call to
Worship and the Opening Prayer.
The Congregational hymn
"Cootie Ye Thankful People Come"
was sung accompanied by the or-
ganist and the pianist Gwen Chris-
tie of Hibbert U.C.
The Scripture Micah 6:6-8 was
read by Grace Brine, Wood:tam
U.C.
Verna Burgin of Kirkton U.C. in-
troduced the guest speaker Jean
Bennett of near Varna. She read the
scripture Matthew 25:31-46. The
title of Jean Bennett's -message was
"Canada Foodgrains Bank Chris-
tian Response to Hunger" which
was really interesting. The ushers
Larry and Sandra Hern, Keith and
pronounced the Benediction and
said the Grace before retiring to the
Fellowship hall for refreshments.
The choir sang a closing chorus.
Verna Burgin was the choir leader.
The greeters and ushers were Jack
and Irene Richardson, Dave and El-
eanor Williams, Dorothy Rollings
and Madeline Tasko.
The steering committee are Joost
Drost, George Burgin, Cathy Bark-
er, Bruce Delbridge, Judith Parker,
Mabel Hern and Judy Mills.
The service was quite well at-
tended.
After lunch Jean Bennett showed
pictures and commentated on Ethi-
opia and other drought -stricken ar-
eas where Canadian grain has been
going. Joost Drost presented Jean
with four church plates from four
different churches and Jean replied.
