celebrate 109th anniversary
Henson United Church
HENSALL - Hensall United
Church celebrated their 109th an-
niversary with Bruce Whitmore as
guest speaker. Doug Klopp was
the organist for the ministry of
song. Special music by the Harmo-
ny Kings marked this special ser-
vice. Worshipers were welcomed
by Elva Forrest and ushered by
Doug and Sharon Kyle and Raye
and Jean Jacobe.
Communion will be served on
November 26 with a second offer-
ing for Community Outreach. The
Jr. choir of Hensel) United Church
meet after school Wednesdays.
The Sr. choir meet Fridays at 7:30

The Hensall Sunset Seniors re-
cently held their November meet-
ing. Twenty-four members were
present. Pearl Taylor gave a hu-

Hensall Legion extends a sincere
thank you to all the business peo-
ple, schools of Hensall, Zurich and
Brucefield, as well as the towns-
people and those from the sur-
rounding area for their generous
donations and support towards the
Poppy Campaign. A total of
$1517.00 was realized.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Gerri and Jane
Glenn, on the loss of his brother,
and to Robert and Dorothy Taylor
on the loss of their brother-in-law,
Bill Buston.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Don't forget to join the Commu-
nity Tree Lighting Ceremony, Sun-
day December 3 at 6:30 p.m. Fes-
tivities begin at the Town Hall for
sing -a -long, hot chocolate, hot
dogs, and Pioneer Christmas dis-
play. Family skating to follow at
Hensall Arena. Please bring along
a non-perishable food item. or toy
for the Huron County Christmas
Bureau. Christmas Bureau dona-
tions will be accepted at the Town
Hall throughout the first week of

Decorating contest
Christmas decorating contest will
be judged Tuesday, December 12,
in Hensall. Decorating categories
are: (1) Most creative use of lights;
1(2) Best use of natural material to
evoke a holiday scene; (3) Santa's
workshop; (4) Best festive display
on a small scale, and (5) Best Vic-
torian Christmas display.

Holy Communion
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
celebrated their Holy Communion
Service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday No-
vember 19. Service opened with
the hymn What a Friend We Have
in Jesus with the Rev. Stanley Jay
as officient.
For the children's focus every-
one old and young again were de-
lighted with Mrs. Liz Jay and her
puppets Mr. Boing and Bookworm
talking about the Holy Bible and
God. Following the hymn "In the
Bulb There is a Flower", the chil-
dren went to their classes. Hugh
Davis and Margaret Carroll read
the scripture readings and Rose
Cunningham was server. Rev Jay's
message was based on the ready-
ing from Malachi, "The coming
day of judgement and justice". The
service closed with the hymn "Oh
Jesus I have Promised".

birthday celebrations honoring Au-
drey and Elliott McRoberts on Sun-
day in Exeter. Best wishes from all
the Hodgins relatives.
Courtney MacGillivray was Sat-
urday evening overnight guest with
the Davis cousins.
Caven PCW November meeting
EXETER - The November meet-
ing of the PCW was held on Mon-
day November 13 at 2 p.m.
The meeting opened with hymn
431 "What a friend we have in Je-
sus". Devotions were taken by Ha-
zel Pryde and Bea Dykstra. The
scripture reading by Bea was Phi-
lippians 4: 4-9. A meditation on
Prayer was given by Hazel Pryde
telling us prayer is as useful in our
day as in Paul's time.
A Poem on Prayer was also read
by Hazel. The devotions closed
with a prayer by Bea Dykstra and
hymn 437 "Take time to be Holy".
Hazel Pryde introduced Shelley
Lawton from Huron County
Health Unit from the Information
and Placement Co-ordination Ser-
vices. Shelley explained the differ-
ent services and how to get infor-
mation about the services provided
in Huron County. She also an-
swered many questions that inter-
est seniors and gave the booklet
for 1995-96 "Seniors Scene". This
booklet describes all the services
available in Huron County to help
seniors. Hazel Pryde thanked Shel-
ly for her informative message.
Margaret Strang President, con-
ducted the business portion of the
meeting. The treasurers report was
given by Micky Bridges and the re-
ports of committees given.
The hobo luncheon on November
10 was a success and the. commit-
tee in charge thanked everyone for
their efforts.
Jerry Downie and Ernie Hillen
joined the group and explained the
work that has been done on the
church and future improvements
that will be undertaken. Lillian
McLennan and June Hiller will be
nominating committee for 1996
Slate of Officers.
The Christmas meeting will be
Monday, December 4 at 2 p.m.
when the Secret Pals will be an-
nounced. The meeting closed with
the Lord's Prayer.
A delicious lunch was served by
Margaret Strang, Lois Learn, and
Mary Ford.
