Thanksgiving celebrated at St. Patrick's

Service.

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
was decorated on Sunday with fall
flowers, leaves and fruits and vege-
tables when the congregation, for-
mer members, relatives and friends
gathered for the Harvest Thanks-
giving and Holy Communion ser-
vice celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The
processional hymn was "Come Ye
Thankful People Come". Rev. Stan
Jay was the officiant for the ser-
vice. For the children's focus, he
spoke of giving thanks to God for
food, family and this wonderful
country. Following the singing of
the children's hymn "Wonderful
Words of Life" the children went to
their classes. Bob MacGillivray and
Margaret Carroll read the Old and
New Testament readings. Joyce
Sovereign sang the hymn "How
Great Thou Art."
The recessional hymn was "Faith
of Our Fathers" and all enjoyed the
time of fellowship and refresh-
ments in the Parish Hall. Altar
flowers were displayed in loving
memory,of Heber Davis, Almarie
Davis Young and Marguerite Davis
Greenlee by Mary and family.
Rose Cunningham and Courtney
MacGillivray were servers for the
service.
Saturday evening Hugh and Ha-
zel Davis and their granddaughter
Starr attended the surprise birthday
party in London for granddaughter
Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray who
was celebrating her 10th birthday.
Starr was overnight guest with the
MacGillivrays. The Davis's also
called in at the Community Centre

Pastor Peter Tuininga and his wife, Cindy
EXETER - Pastor Peter Tuininga and his wife, Cindy, newcomers
to the Christian Reformed Church. have a background in religion to-
gether.
"It's been really exciting working as a couple." said Cindy.
Before moving to Exeter in September, they spent four years in
Winnipeg starting a new Christian Reformed Church that consisted
of people of various denominations. The church was named Step by
Step Ministries and its name was chosen by the community.
"Our focus was to create a church for beginners," said Peter, who -
studied theology and classical languages at Redeemer College in
Ancaster before obtaining his Masters of Divinity at Calvin Theo-
logical Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Originally from St. Thomas, the couple looks forward to living
once again in a small town.
"It's a big change but a welcome change," said Peter. "I'm really
looking forward to get to know people."

Sunday Doris Mullins and Ru-
thanne Phillips of London visited
with Ron and Margaret Carroll.
Hugh and Hazel Davis attended
the visitation and funeral of cousin
Don Meyer of London on Thurs-
day at the Needham Funeral Home.
St. Patrick's Harvest Dessert Eu-
chre and Bake Sale date has been
changed to Thursday. November 2
at 1:00 p.m.

STEPHEN TWNP - On October 7
at about 5:50 p.m. vehicles driven
by James Stuart, of Crediton, and
Theo Lipfert, of Cargill, collided on
Hwy 4 at Cty Rd. 4.
On Oct. 8 at about 11:00 a.m, ve-
hicles driven by Lawrence Ryan, of
Crediton, and Thomas Boal, of
Parkhill, collided at Huron Cty Rd.
5 at Conc. 8-9.
Correction
EXETER - Last week's OPP re-
port that a female staff member had
her brown leather purse stolen from
Dr. Jadd's office in Exeter was in-
correct.
The purse was missing and al-
though the owner suspected it
might have been stolen from her
vehicle, the purse later turned up at
a local restaurant.
The T -A apologized for the error.
