The Board has embarked on real efforts to increase its collaboration with the local Roman Catholic Board and the Perth County Board of Education through the establish- ment of a 'tri -board steering com- mittee' to explore and enact such options. The Board has also made overtures to local municipalities and the County of Huron in re- spect of expanding working part- nerships in areas such as purchas- ing and other administrative services where conihined efforts might lead to lower spending lev- els for each party. The recommendations in the Sweeney Report which place a pri- ority on education finance reform would he most helpful to the Hu- ron Board and to its property tax- payers. Access to a fairer share of tax dollars from the commercial assessment base would ensure that the children and young persons in our schools have more equal ac- cess to learning resources than the current tax Kase can afford.
